It is veri easy to smuggle arms into singapore. Tuas and Woodlands aren't the ony checkpoint. Go to changi point ferry terminal on any sunday morning 8-9am and you will see what I mean .. immigration there is a big joke!

btw, singapore does sell arms to bangladesh and myanmmar ... marketed by unicorn international.

Mr. Green Sg dun sell guns to locals... its one of the biggest arms dealing nation around...

ST, for all its pretensions of a company with diverse interests like engineering, automotives, aerospace, etc, etc, is an arms-runner.

Bangladesh and Myammar is certain... some go as far as to speculate that Sg was arming the Balkans while arms embargo and ethnic cleansing was going on there too... (not to mention that nobody was supposed to sell arms to the military junta in myammar... oops Rolling Eyes )

I saw in some newsreel years back showing Croatia militia marching with Ultimax LMGs. I think there's also some 2nd hand Ultimax for sale from Balkans too - 100 pounds if I remember correctly.

Also saw front page a picture of Ultimax in Fiji during the coup thingy.

If I can recall correctly - the Sg sold Ultimax , Armburst LAW & SAR rifles to Croatia Police Force / National Guard.

According to reports , the Armbust LAW did alright - taking care of T-55 & T-62 MBTs. Shocked Shocked

    • I've seen pictures of the Ultimax 100 in the Phillipines, including one captured by terrorists. ST 40mm AGLs are used there as well.

Seen a picture of SR88 in Fiji islands.

Pictures of Ultimax 100 and Armbrusts in Croatia, used in battles.

Reports of a Singapore pre-fab small arms factory in Burma....etc.

I think the last Austin Powers movie featured a Ultimax 100 without the butt and SAR21s in the Japanese factory shot.

    • To us, the possible victims from gunshot wounds. We care about how did they manage to get the guns.

To the Police/Customs force, whether they get the gun through or they get caught IN singapore with a gun, they are equally fucked.

    • Illegal Possesion of gun is 7 years jail

Firing the thing is punishable by pain of death (hanging)

hehheh, they briefed us on all that when we went shooting during NPCC. . .

and no I dun sell atom bomb, for those who are wondering what this is about, dun bother. . . Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

      READ MY POST

did i say UN arms embargo???

There is an EU embargo and a US embargo and that already rules out all the western suppliers... sure, they could still buy from russia, china and all alternative sources but would you be surprised if they did????

so unless u categorise Sg as being one of those "alternative" sources who has absolutely no moral qualms about selling anything to anybody (which is actually precisely the case Mr. Green )....

some people (not me...) are still under certain illusions that Sg has yet to lose its innocence...

      Dear CX,

Did you READ YOUR OWN POST before you reply to my post. Laughing Laughing Laughing

You stated that [b]" nobody was supposed to sell arms to the military junta in myammar "

IF EU and US is everybody , then who are we - dogs & cats !!! Sad Crying or Very sad

ST, for all its pretensions of a company with diverse interests like engineering, automotives, aerospace, etc, etc, is an arms-runner. Shocked Shocked

As for your above statement, better hope that you will not be receiving lawyers letters Laughing Laughing

    • some quarters in the west would indeed have u know that u do not measure up as highly as u would like to think.

i frankly find the idea of selling arms to military junta who ruthlessly imprisons a democratically elected government, deals shamelessly with characters known to be active ( or "formerly active" ) in the golden triangle drug trade and does everything within its violent means to achieve its ends, REPULSIVE.

if u speak for them, then u can tell them to take the letter and shove it up where the sun doesn't shine.

i don't give a flying fuck if they're offended by what some people think of their lucrative trade.

try asking what people with some semblance of a spine say about selling weapons to the slime at Yangon.

Sorry guys, all wrong. Din sell any guns to myanmmar ... only sold some old tooling equipment used for manufacture. Packed in aluminium foil then shipped out ... other words, we sold them a plant (source janes def)... but I think it's good, give the guys up north something to think abt.

    • Also, during the 80's when still small small boy, I worked part-time as a production operator during holidays for a well established international company specialised in making NVG.

During my 6wk stay there, saw 3 arabs with vry distinct iranian accent(I may be wrong), how I know they were arabs? They stared salivery at our chinese women who dun wear tudungs with short skirts like looking at porno pics in playboy magazine.

They ordered a huge cache of NVG's, night sniper/MG scopes, oversaw the assembly paid in cash and left.

The order may have been made overseas but delivery in asia because of sensitivity(western double standards).

Think the company no longer operate here. They went "global" few years ago with the advice from our good government.

    • You are referring to Avimo, right??? Also read about the RBS70 scandal that caused the Bofors boss to be assasinated......

Actually ST should look into weapons for peacekeeping purposes: How to adapt the SAR 21 or other assault rifles into a weapon for suppressing rioters etc......

I think rifle launch projectiles of one sort or another is the way to go. Instead of firing bullets they should be used to launch nets or baseballs or something.

There must be something in the works by now. Anyone has seen anything from ST???

The recent thing in Russia should be a pointer too. Instead of powerful gases that knock people out maybe something else that can reach out to the animal instinct in all of us.......make them horny or something!

It will take at least one useful hand busying away for long enough to do a full commando assault!!! Just joking please!

dey shud make 40mm thermobaric ammo then supply to the americans. I hear they are seriously considering to use them. We can make a killing for them to make a killing.

also read recently that myanmmar maintains abt 275 amx13, guess more new future business for ST engr then. Can buy the stock leow.

    • hey buzz, just a thought here: whatever your anti-riot police shoot, dun make them shoot anything larger 2cm in diameter, else if they miss, which some of them sure will, or whatever they shoot bounces away, the rioters will pick up the objects and throw them back at the police, thats why base balls are a no-no, they'll pick up the baseballs you shoot and throw it back at you

and abt the 275 AMX-13, read the thread 'Light Tank'
