i am a 17 guy jux finish o level... and thru dae for biomedical i got into materials science which is the4 last course i put...
i not sure wad this course is about.. can anyone tell me this course is mainly aboutt wad and wad is the future occupation to be if i finish this diploma..... i wanna know now so i wont regret choosing it next time...
i am keen in sciences but wonder this course will fit me or not.... can someone who knows about this course help me?? thanks alot
Material science and engineering seems like a good subject with a wide range of career opportunities.
Read this .

oo so it seem to be a pretty good sub with good prospect/..
erm anyone in tis course can tell me wad u think?
omg!
materials science!
my most dreaded subject!
the lectures are conducive for sleep.
lol serious? omg then
don't take my word for it
try it out for yourself
maybe you will like it
can jux tell me wad is it related? and future prospect?
Maybe you email eagle and ask him.
He is in engine.
Which Poly first!!!!!!!!
Actually Material Science is quite a specialize field that deals with Material properties etc.....
Got good prospects.. =D
I am taking Dip. in Biomedical Science in RP... hmM~ Don't tell me you also posted to RP de...
haha yay u guessed correctly.. i am posted to rp... but still waiting for ngee ann reply.....
hope we can meet in the school of science.....in rp...
wads ur name? maybe by chance we will meet hehe

There're serveral forumers are from RP too...
ah tears - School of Applied Science(SAS)'s Pharmaceutical Sciences
Me(call me hei hei/darkie/darkness) - School of Applied Science(SAS)'s Biomedical Sciences.
hLing - School of Engineering(SEG)'s dunno which course >.<'
Mayi jie... From School of IT(SIT) - graduated! If have IT problem, we have IT Support and Tech corner. she's the moderator of IT Support.
there still other forumers in RP.. most are Year 2 and 3.. there a few year 1s..
Me, ah tears, and hLing... this coming semester year 2!~ =D
next time organize some meet-up yar.. I promise won't run away half way.. >.<

HAHA! I also frm RP de. But in New media under STA ah. Hmm, my fren in material science. He said bit tough, a lot of foundations to learn though.
Hi patrick, I am not from RP but from NTU MSE (mat. sci). I am currently doing an undergrad course in material science, so I guess my experiences may be relevant to you....
MSE is a new branch of study that marries both engineering, applied chemistry and physics into one field. The current materials available in the industries can no longer satisfy the increasing speciality needs of various industrial designs. Therefore, hybrid materials of metals, ceramics, polymers are created to satisfy this need. Material science also looks into the structure of materials at the nano-scale. How strength, hardness, toughness and other physical properties are heavily dependent on the arrangement of atoms at nano-scale. Instruments used to study these materials at atomic lvls are eg. XRD, SEM, TEM, STM, AFM...........
For ntu, I have many friends that took the poly route to uni. So I think the prospects are gd for u. Besides, the semi-con industry also need alot of MSE ppls, same with the new player on the block, life-science. For MSE, my exp is that the maths is less demanding as compared to other engineering courses. But great emphasis placed on theorectical understanding of how things work at atomic lvl. I'm not so sure for u how is it like, so u got to go and exp on ur own. Besides, MSE also opens the door to many research opportunities.....
