There're a many investment books out there. Some are quite skewed. Was thinking of something along the lines of an investment textbook, where I can get the basics right. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your replies! :)
U can take up some course. There is a course know as Certified Financial Planner. Mainly to train people to be financial advisor, or salesman of financial instrument, depending on how you view it. Cant remember which sch teaching it. Btw what your backgroud??? How risk tolerance are you? Mean can you afford to lose money? Or i shd ask, how much money can you afford to lose? Basic rule, no risk no gain; minimise risk not eliminate it.

For someone whom is not 'math-sound', signing for CFP/CFA (esp) course almost mean a certain suicide. Also, I do not think a CFP certification is necessary unless TS plans a career in that area la. Like take butcher knife cut orange like that ![]()
TS, if you're keen I'd advise you to read up some 'self-help' books, and start following the market - 'invest' with 'imaginery' money for practice. Also, if you're geniune 'bout investing, yet know nuts 'bout... A brokerage would be a good place to start (Learn some stuff from the agent :P )

If you're really the hard-core type, I suggest you read CFA textbooks. ![]()
If you're just looking for general knowledge, pick up books in the library that cover basics like P/E ratio, ROE etc. (That's how I started out.)
got try going to the stock dealing center and ask the staffs there if they offer any weekly night classes which are conducted free?
i saw it being offered over there in last yr's tv show..

I read two types of books, factual and inspirational.
Here are some recommended titles:
Factual - "Investing For Dummies" by Eric Tyson (great introductory book)
Inspirational - "A Million Bucks by 30" by Alan Corey, "How To Get Rich" by Donald Trump, "Warren Buffett Speaks" by Janet Lowe, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey.
If you are looking for websites, you can try the following:

These are some of the resources that I personally use and have found useful. Hope this helps. :)
