There used to be Volvo Olympian, Volvo B10MA, Volvo B10BLE, Volvo B10M, and the superlong all together.

DD, SD, long rigid, articulated and CNG all-in-one package.
Unfortunately the hybrid came a bit too late to join the party.

    • Fun fact: After svc 71 is introduced, 1 and 149 are the only odd numbers below 201 that does not correspond to a bus service.

I initially forgot 149, hence posted as only 1...

The point is that most of the vacant service numbers are even numbers.

These routes were operated by private operators, I'm pretty sure.

Also, 26, 32, 61, 149 and 157 used to be shared with private operators too.

    • Surprisingly the svcs were operated by SBS from when they were introduced in 1979 with 1971 MB buses. The routes used to serve JIS and Taman Jurong until 1986 when they were withdrawn and the ter was closed (replaced by modern routes). These were then revived by PTOs but renumbered as 625 - 628 respectively and their routes drastically changed as Scheme B routes till today

    • But srsly, 640 should be promoted heavier than today. Its the only other bus (Scheme B) that could actually bring SBW residents to city via Thomson

    • Scheme B routes are suffering the most lah. Literally not a lot of ppl will know their existence. Even if they do, theres limited info abt their route and operation hours

its not rly big per se though, but it sure does serve its function as a good carpark. Just a couple of question: I rmb there is this gantry at the entrance/exits of the carpark, how do vehicles enter? It's not like it is an automated one, and it looks like someone needs to unlock it or smth? Nxt, i wonder if it can be used as an appropriate place for boarding/alighting activities for the malaysian express buses instead of crowding along the road and/or the area behind the old cinema?

    • Straits Times changed their headline on the cost of rail replacement bus services

Original headline was "Taxpayers to pay part of cost of additional buses deployed for train network closures". STCars still carries the article here.

      Someone took a screenshot here.

But the headline has since been modified to "LTA, SMRT to bear cost of additional buses deployed for train network closures". However, the URL of the ST article itself has not changed.

The following two paragraphs were also modified.

      Original:

Taxpayers and rail operator SMRT will pick up the tab for additional buses rolling out to ferry commuters displaced by shorter hours on the East-west MRT line for the next seven months.

"LTA and SMRT will also share in the costs of operating these additional bus services," the Land Transport Authority, a statutory board under the Transport Ministry, said in response to queries from The Straits Times.

      Replaced by:

A large fleet of additional buses will be required to ferry commuters left in the lurch due to shorter hours on the MRT’s East-West Line, and the cost of this operation will be borne by the Government and rail operator SMRT.

“LTA and SMRT will share in the costs of operating these additional bus services,” the Land Transport Authority (LTA), a statutory board under the Transport Ministry, said in response to queries from The Straits Times on Friday (Nov 24).

    • If I am not wrong the gantry is only open at 1 side while the other is closed. Furthermore its not like the CP is used at all times
