But when I look at the route of 137, I rolled my eyes... The route is so winding! The route is certainly useful for short-distance trips (e.g. B.N. St 3 to B.N. MRT, Kaki Bukit Estate to Ubi MRT or B.N. MRT, UEC Rd to Bedok MRT, etc) but I guess very few people will take travel more than 50% of the route unless they want to take a good nap.

I am wondering about the frequency of svc 137. I hope it doesn't have a horrible frequency like svc 45 (20 minutes during off-peak).

I am also wondering how 137 would be able to turn right from B.N. Ave 1 to B.N. Rd after the bus stop opp Blk 546. The bus stop is very close to the junction of B.N. Ave 1 and B.N. Rd and the roads leading to the junction are often jammed.

Hi mr autumncs, not much people will take bus from 1 end to the other end in this era. People take bus if it is direct, has no other faster alternative or it is just a few stops. Cheers. Thanks.

Residents of Bedok Reservoir Rd still have svc 66 and 228 to Bedok Reservoir MRT, svc 22 and svc 66 to Ubi, and svc 21 and 22 to Tampines, so they don't really lose much. Alternatively, svc 19 or 29 can be extended to serve Bedok Reservoir Rd, Bedok North Rd, Bedok North Ave 1 and Bedok MRT to cover the deleted portion of amended svc 65, and to provide connection between Bedok Reservoir Rd and Bedok North MRT.

Leave 65 as it is for now. It may be needed to replace 67 between TAM and LTI if the latter is chopped.

From the Upper East Coast terminal to Temasek Secondary School portion of Upper East Coast Road, there’s bus 25 that goes to Bedok MRT, and it is a short journey.

118's skipped bus stop is within walking distance to Changi South Ave 1 iirc. If they're really lazy they can also take 47 to Ave 1 and transfer to 118.

18's duplication to 28 is not a big concern IMO, as the routes between Tampines MRT and N3 are quite different (in fact, most of 28's loading from Tampines MRT are towards Ave 9 / St 45 only).

The amendment of 18 reminds me of one of my previous route suggestions looping at Streets 32-34 almost 7 years ago...seems like lately all these areas are having bus stops at both sides.

I guess the purpose of svc 137 travelling along UEC Road is to connect residents of Bayshore to Bedok MRT.

The residents of UEC Road between Bedok South Ave 3 and UEC terminal are the luckiest. They now have 2 direct services to Bedok MRT (25 & 137), as well as a direct service to Bedok Reservoir MRT (46).

      Makes sense now with DTL3.

Upp East Coast really spammed with bus svcs now... when the forested area behind Bayshore/Bedok South gets developed, some of the bus svcs shld be re-routed there.

    • It would be better if 137 serve of Bedok South Road (Temesek JC there) which includes the portion which is currenlt served by 229 thou

That doesn't make sense at all. There is already 38 and 229 to do Bedok - Bedok South Road. 137 connects UEC to Bedok MRT (Bayshore area) that doesn't have a direct connection today. People usually take 48 and back track to Tanah Merah.

LMAO 38 has horrible freq. Tho it would have made sense for 25 to have plied bedok south rather than add to the congestion along New Upp Changi

I don't think >15 min is justifiable for a sole svc serving whole estates to Bedok MRT.

And 229 could take as much as 15 min more to Bedok MRT depending on jam.

    • If right turn is allowed from New Upper Changi Rd to Bedok South Ave 1, bus services coming from the west could be extended to serve Bedok South Rd (between Bedok South Ave 1 and Ave 3).

Alas it doesn't, which explains why 25 can only enter via Bedok South Ave 3 (as it has to serve Bedok MRT).

I guess the poor frequency of 38 and 229 is due to low demand along Bedok South Rd, where one side of the road has low density private estate. But then, Bedok South Rd has 12 and 47, so Bedok South residents have direct routes to elsewhere.

On the other hand, Bedok North St 3 is the other way round - high frequency and high capacity for 225G/W, but no direct routes to anywhere else (until svc 137 starts on 21 Oct). For Bedok North St 3 residents, going anywhere beyond Bedok North estate requires at least one transfer or at least a 15 minute walk to bus stops along Bedok Reservoir Rd or Bedok North Ave 3.

Which would you prefer? Several routes but poor frequency for each route, or high frequency for only 1 route but no direct routes to anywhere else?

    • To save time for Bedok South residents, 38 should loop at Bedok MRT via Bedok South Ave 1, New Upper Changi Rd and Bedok South Rd. The journey into and out of Bedok Interchange is time-consuming and there is always a queue of buses waiting for the limited number of alighting berths.

For Bedok South Road residents, if they need to take EWL, they take 12/38/47 to Tanah Merah MRT. 38 is used solely if they need to go to Bedok mall. 229 is the same. Hence, 38 and 229 both have low loading towards Bedok.
