SINGAPORE: One person was injured in a collision involving a traffic police patrol vehicle on Sunday (Jun 26).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to an incident requiring ambulance assistance at the junction of Geylang Road and Engku Aman Road at 8.56pm. One male driver in his 30s was conveyed to Changi General Hospital as a result of the accident, the SCDF said.

Police said investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Photos posted by Facebook user Angeline Xie at 9.10pm show the scene of the accident near Haig Road and the Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar, with the hood of the traffic police vehicle appearing to have been smashed in.

A Channel NewsAsia viewer who declined to be named said he heard a siren at about 8.50pm, and saw the patrol vehicle chasing a car. Seconds later, he heard a loud bang and saw that the patrol vehicle had collided with another BMW car. The collision, which took place in front of a crowded bus stop, caused the patrol vehicle's airbag to be activated, he said.

The eyewitness said an ambulance arrived soon after. The car the patrol vehicle was chasing appeared to have fled the scene, he added.

    • Police called in after 'professor' gives cabby $1 tip -- then tells him to 'step out and show respect'

      Posted on 29 June 2016 | 142,682 views | 67 comments

Stomper Cabby was left with no choice but to call the police after a dispute with a passenger yesterday (June 28).

He had picked up the man at the airport and dropped him off at the LKY School of Public Policy in Bukit Timah.

According to the Stomper, the total fare amounted to $21 and the passenger gave him $100.

When the cabby wanted to give the passenger his change of $79, the latter only took $78 and left the remaining $1 as a tip.

However, things took a strange turn after that.

Said the Stomper in a phone interview:

"I don't know what happened but the passenger suddenly asked me to step out and show some respect.

"He said that he is a professor and has been in Singapore for eight years, and that this was a worldwide practice.

"I said I would return him his $1, and he said he would take it back but still insisted that I step out.

"He refused to exit my taxi and even called my company to complain."

The Stomper said he was 'getting a headache' at this point, as he wanted to continue driving but was being delayed.

Hence, he called the Police and they arrived 20 minutes later.

A video contributed by the Stomper shows the passenger repeatedly asking him to 'step out'.

He also added that he did not do or say anything that might have led to the bizarre confrontation, and had even said 'thank you' to the passenger after being given the $1 tip.

In response to media queries, a spokesperson for the Police told Stomp:

"Police received a call on 28 June at about 1.22pm, requesting for assistance at 469 Bukit Timah Road.

"Upon arrival, it was established that a case of dispute had occurred at the said location.

"The parties involved were advised to keep the peace and they complied.

"No further Police assistance was required."

      • This is the letter Khammat sent to Facebook road safety community page Beh Chia Lor:

(We have only made marginal punctuation changes to keep the tone of the letter intact)

“I boarded this SMRT TAXI SHB1881L at clarke quay about 4am after a drinking seesions with some of my business partners and i am kind of drunk at that point of time. And has told the driver to go to Marina Bay Sand Tower 1 where i am staying currently. I safely reached but i forgotten my laptop bag, I immediately turns sober because that bag contains of CASH S$235,500.00 in it.

This money is given to me by investors in Singapore for a business plans carried out in thailand. And I suppose to be remitting it today morning. My worries of my consequence of losing this money lead me to a breakdown and I cried in a totally lost manner in my suites.

My wife woke up in a shock as she sees me breakdowns.Upon knowing what happen she says gone…surely we need to bear this sum of money and we are dead because SGD $235k converted to Thai baht is 6 million over.

I suddenly say I think I go down to the taxi lobby to see if the taxi driver will deliver back the bag of mine..and my wife screamed at me saying “dun waste your time, its $235000 and not $23.50, if you are the driver will you return back the bag to the owner?”

I kept quiet without a word but dunno why my feeling tells me that I must go to the lobby to lookout for the taxi . But the problem I facing is actually I dun even remember the taxi number as I am totally drunk just now.

So my wife seeing the deep shit I have caused she got no choice but to followed me down to the lobby in a mindset that i am obviously wasting my time coming down to the lobby and i should think of alternative ways to raise this sum and we even think of mortgage our house at Thailand and even sell off all our assets.

But when the lift door open upon reaching lobby I saw a man coming in from the glass door panting and anxious going towards the reception and actually I dun recognise him but I recognise what he is holding onto. Its my laptop bag!

And i and my wife ran towards him and shouting for him and when he saw me he took a deep breath and says thank god…I found you sir…..at that time about nearly 5.00am we are like making a commotion in the lobby. I asked my wife bring up the bag and I urged the kind-hearted driver to wait as i need to buy him a drink and offer my appreciation.

But we ended up with a short chat in my suites. The driver did not request for any monetary but only asked if I could give him a ice cold mineral water and my wife immediately get it from the hotel bar fridge.and i offered him $1000.00 cash for appreciation of returning this money. Because seriously I ask myself if is me I found this money I dun think I will give back too.

And furthermore I get to know from this driver that he just started driving taxi and was a bankrupt in 2014 ,he starts all over from scratch of what he lost and is repaying his debts, this makes me more surprised because if i were him, i found this big sum of money i can start afresh and repay my debts.

But the driver replies of why he comes back searching for me is because,he says he intends to go home after dropping me and he has drove off going towards petrol kiosk before going back home but upon reaching he saw a bag at the passenger seat and he said he immediate open the bag hoping to have my particulars so that he can returned to HOTEL to me.

But he said he was shocked when he saw the whole bag cash and first thinking is that oh dear this man will surely goes mad if he lose this bag of cash.and even cost life..so he immediately rush to MBS hoping to get the hotel help by asking mbs staff can trace the cctv footage of the guest just now.

I am sincerely grateful and other than being thankful i dunno what to say to this kind soul. So i hope i can make everyone knows and can learn from this driver kind deeds. And indeed there is still kind soul in this world.

I am sure this driver will surely make a comeback after he earns and repays all his debt. Because his heart is Righteous and his failures previously is also a framed up and trusted too much on business partners.sorry if my english isn’t so good you guys may help me rephrased the story. Thanks.”

But also damn suai, the other day encountered a deliibert 50+ uncle from East Coast Park who scolded vulgar words from initial part of jouney who wanted to go to Geylang only to be unable to wake up on arrival.   Then later fetched him to Seng Kang and he intentionally pretended to sleep on arrival.   Later on, he also seemed like having no money (no wallet to be found) to pay.   Wasted 60 minutes on him for nothing and drove off without collecting a single cent or going to police station.   First time kena run fare in my taxi career.... Surprisingly not young nicely dressed ladies but 50+ uncle who also got attitude problem becoming angry when I called him Ah Pek (had to apologise to him at least 6-8 times and in the end did not get a single cent ).

      • S’pore taxi uncle returns laptop bag with $235,500 cash to drunk Thai passenger

When the news broke out regarding a taxi driver returning $230k cash back to the passenger, it spreads like wildfire. Being a cautious person, I normally click on the source to verify the facts before believing all the bullshit since many TRS-like websites out there are not to be trusted for creating fake news for their own personal agendas. I chanced upon the comment made by the so called taxi driver on the original posting. My instinct led me to his Facebook profile and subsequently scrolling down on his public wall. If one were to read the whole story posted by the drunken Thai businessman, he claims he doesn't know the taxi driver. But if one were to read the Facebook wall and scroll until the last page of the taxi driver Lee Kenny, you will discover that the Thai businessman in the story named Chukamon Khammat were actually friends with the taxi driver since 2010 and they had been talking with each other (update: other netizens have reported and took screenshots of the conversations too). I have also reported the facts to the original source at BehChiaLor, but to my surprise, they removed all my evidence and even blocked me from their FB. So now the questions are: who created this fake news? And why? If by the taxi driver himself, is it for trolling purposes or for service recognition medal? And if it was created by the source itself, was it to generate fake traffic to their FB to earn revenue? You'll be the judge and to believe whether this is real or fake after reading the excerpt and evidence pictures below.

I hope SMRT can come up with a conclusive investigation by tracing the FB account of Lee Kenny with the hp number of 90852212 to match if it does belong to taxi driver named Lee Koh Wee. If it is, then it is conclusive Lee Kenny=Lee Koh Wee and from their FB accounts we can conclude they know each other since 2010 prior to this incident instead as claimed in the story.

Another method is to trace back the date, time and fare based on the story. CCTV footages are abundant in MBS.

Third method is to ask BehChiaLor to give Mr. Chukamon's contact since he was in direct communication with BCL and even gave them a picture of the taxi driver ID before boarding the flight. SMRT can then get in direct contact with Mr. Chukamon to verify the story.

There is no malicious intention of me by posting up this post. I just lay out the facts for everyone to judge if this is real or not. I do hope the story is real and the taxi driver is to be commended for such honest action.

Update 1: SMRT shared the post on their FB. After reporting to them with the facts, they have now removed the posting.

Update 2: FB statement from SMRT FB

Update 3: It may seem Singapore Taxi Driver Facebook page is in the same cohort with BehChiaLor. A few comments in the space of few hours to inform them about the possible fake news are all met with secret deletion. The admins were working so hard to delete at 2.50am in the morning the very moment I posted it up.

Update 4: The so called taxi driver named Lee Kenny on FB finally deleted the evidence post from Mr. Chukamon dated from year 2010; after a good 6 hours being exposed. Luckily I have made screenshots and you can see the evidence below. Update as of 12/07/2016 7am: I have been informed by other netizens that the conversations can still be seen. So I may be the only one blocked. You can view their conversations via this link:https://www.facebook.com/k3nny8131/posts/406576522143. If it doesn't work, more evidence pictures can be seen below.

Update 5: I did a Google Reverse Image check on the picture of money as claimed. It turns out this picture is already on Internet circulation since year 2012!

Update 6 (MAJOR REVELATION and EVIDENCE): This is the final nail into the coffin after other netizens reported and also took screenshots of conversations between Lee Kenny and Chukamon dated back to year 2010. One particular netizen even found the Twitter account named Kenny Lee Koh Wee. We can now conclude that FB Lee Kenny is taxi driver Lee Koh Wee, whom knew and had been having conversations with Chukamon Khammat in FB since year 2010. All the evidence pictures below are reproduced from the conversation made on SMRT official FB page.

These are the screenshots taken by other netizen, proving that Lee Kenny did in fact knew and were in conversations with Chukamon since 2010. The link to their conversations can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/k3nny8131/posts/406576522143

This is the picture to his Twitter account under the name Kenny Lee Koh Wee.

Update 7: This is the 2nd nail to the coffin. Assuming BehChiaLor doesn't know passenger and taxi driver; passenger doesn't know BehChiaLor; and taxi driver doesn't know BehChiaLor: BehChiaLor published the letter as it is by the passenger signed off as Chukamon Khammat. Now taxi driver claims he knew Chukamon since 2010 but the passenger he fetched that day is now on a different name. And assuming passenger named Chukamon did provide real name to BehChiaLor. So now who among the 3 is lying. Let's catch the liar. See pictures below:

        The main story:

SMRT SHB1881L taxi uncle returns $235,500.00 to Thai businessman who left them in his taxi. Read what Mr Chukamon Khammat wrote to us which we reproduced every single grateful word that comes from his heart:

      • SMRT investigating claims that story of SMRT cabby who returned $235,500 to Thai passenger is false

After news circulated of an honest taxi driver who returned a laptop bag containing $235,500 in cash to a Thai businessman, a blogger has written a detailed post highlighting that it was all a hoax.

The blogger, Soong Hoongji, uncovered that the cabbie, Lee Kenny and the businessman, Cukamon Khammat, are actually Facebook friends.

He dug up conversations between the two men that dated back to 2010.

Soong also said that he did a Google Reverse Image check on the money picture that was used and found out it was a picture that had been circulating on the internet since 2012.

SMRT has since released a statement on their Facebook page on July 11 saying that they are verifying the story:

"Some of you may have come across an article about one of our taxi partners who had returned a laptop bag with cash to a taxi passenger. We are currently verifying the accuracy of the account and will update after our investigations."

The cabby also posted his side of the story on the same day saying that he never denied knowing the passenger.

        He wrote:

"WILL A PERSON SLAP HIS OWN FACE? If i want cooked up story i can say more wonderful content to enhance everyone believing....instead i am so heat up when i saw the posting of me being a bankrupt." (sic)

The blogger wrote that he had not hidden agenda for digging up these details:

"There is no malicious intention of me by posting up this post. I just lay out the facts for everyone to judge if this is real or not. I do hope the story is real and the taxi driver is to be commended for such honest action."

      • Returning late on Saturday night from a day trip to Malaysia, she boarded a red Trans-Cab taxi at Chinese Garden MRT station to go home.

Madam P. Tay told the taxi driver to head for Teban Gardens, a 10-minute drive away.

But midway through the journey, Madam Tay, who is in her 60s, heard the cabby grumble.

He then stopped, opened her passenger door, dragged her out, then dumped her by the side of the road, injuring her.

At around 11pm last Saturday, Madam Tay and her friends got off their coach at Chinese Garden MRT station after a one-day trip to Johor Baru for a durian tour.

A few minutes later, she flagged down a Trans-Cab taxi at the MRT station's taxi stand. She entered the taxi alone, carrying her backpack and two small bags.

At Yung Ho Road, off Corporation Road in Boon Lay, things started to go wrong.

Speaking to The New Paper on Monday, Madam Tay said: "(He) was very aggressive... He told me 'I have the right not to fetch you'.

"I told him that he did not indicate this to me from the start. I'm a Singaporean, so I told him that I know the law."

Madam Tay said the driver showed no sign of reluctance when she boarded and told him her destination, but only grew agitated, for no apparent reason, as he started driving.

When asked if she had been carrying durian in her luggage when she boarded the taxi, Madam Tay said no.

According to the Land Transport Authority, a taxi driver is not allowed to terminate the hiring of a taxi or require passengers to leave the taxi, without a valid reason.

        PHONE CALL

During the journey, Madam Tay received a phone call from her daughter.

Her daughter, who declined to be named, said: "I called her to find out where she was and whether she needed a lift home."

She could hear her mother shouting: "Quick, help me, I'm in trouble!"

Madam Tay said of the taxi driver: "He kept asking me to alight. He kept saying 'Get out! Get out! Uncle doesn't want to fetch you'."

Madam Tay read the driver's licence plate number to her daughter. As she was doing so, the taxi suddenly stopped.

Madam Tay claimed the driver dragged her out of her seat by her arm, causing her to fall at the kerb next to Block 152, Yung Ho Road.

She injured her left arm as she used it to break her fall.

She said: "I was in shock. It happened so fast. He dragged me and threw (all my belongings) out."

She said the taxi driver was in his 50s and of medium build.

Madam Tay's daughter, who lives with her, called her two brothers, who rushed down to help their mother. Her children called the police.

The police arrived soon after and called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for an ambulance.

On Monday, a police spokesman told TNP their officers arrived at about 11.30pm.

They have classified the case as one of voluntarily causing hurt and investigations are ongoing.

An SCDF spokesman said Madam Tay was in a conscious and stable condition when taken to the nearby Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

She was given a tetanus injection and had an X-ray taken.

Madam Tay's left arm was not fractured, but is bruised and sore from the fall. She also had cuts on the same arm.

Her son, Shaun, 36, contacted Trans-Cab to file a complaint.

He said he was told he could not speak to the supervisor or get any help because the police had already been informed.

A Trans-Cab spokesman told TNP the driver in question has been contacted.

They are awaiting his response to lodge a formal report and take the matter up with their insurance company.
