In the tender called for construction of DTL1, there exists an overrun track for turning back, as well as maintenance facilities, running to beyond NSL Marina Bay Station.
As we know, Circle Line will also have its own platforms at Bayfront, besides the one at Promenade. This means CCL might be a user of this overrun.

i suppose its for the trains to turn back to serangoon? stage 3 will open first right? correct me if im wrong please. they should have this kind of layout at tai seng and/or bartley too, since they are closest to the depot and it'll be easier for trains to return.

oh, just to add on, the promenade station layout seems starkingly similar to BMRT stations. limited space? or same planner? since SMRT does have a share in BMRT...According to 2 newspaper articles in Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao some time back last July, construction at stage 3 is the fastest, and of all interchange stations, construction at Bishan is going the most smoothly. Some days back, there was a sign along Marymount Lane saying "Marymount Road will be reinstated from 2/2/07 onwards". Now, the two station entrances are half done and the station concourse dug in the middle of the road is being covered up. If I can get pics, I will try to upload.

Supposedly, in the near future, the LTA might extend CCL with an additional station (CC30: Shenton Way), and thus linking it to (NS27/CC31 : Marina Bay). If they do that, Marina Bay will be a station for 2 terminals. So I guess they might want to add (NS28: Marina View) so that Marina Bay will be the future terminus for CCL.

Is it just me or did Stage3 take so much less time to complete compared to Stage2? cos i’m very surprised to see the exits at Serangoon stn and Lorong Chuan stn to be already built… (adding on to the pleasant news abt Marymount) Didnt Stage2 stations take really long? All i rmb along the stage2 stretch was a mess for years!

i heard it's cos the delay caused by the collapse of nicoll highway meant they practically had no deadline to meet to complete so they literally took their own sweet time to build.

the earliest stage 2 could open is if stage 3 (or stage 1) opens, so u see the link. yes, we are talking assuming SMRT wakes up their idea and not open the whole line at once.

I think some time back in the papers it was mentioned that stage 2 is delayed because of the area around Dakota station. IF I'm not wrong, after the Nicoll Highway Accident, LTA checked all the construction sites and I think there was a lot of soil movement around Dakota, so they stopped work for a bit. Not too sure though, correct me if I'm wrong.

actually, i don't think they want to extend the current southern terminus of NSL, marina bay to marina view, just because they want to make it the terminus for CCL. think reason is because they want to extend the mrt system to the marina view area.

Now there's another sign on the other side of the road (near the Boonview condo) saying that the reinstatement for the other side of the road will begin on 8/8/07. The two station entrances are now about half done and look very nice.
