    • Recent speculation from Italy suggested that Serie A table-toppers Milan are determined to lure Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, and the Rossoneri are now prepared to include striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a makeweight in the deal, reports from Italy suggest.

Even though it appears unlikely that los Blancos would consider the sale of the former Manchester United star, Milan are ready to make a move at the end of the season and they could include their Swedish hitman in a deal to bring CR7 to San Siro, Il Corriere dello Sport reports.

Ibrahimovic returned to Serie A from Barcelona on a one-year loan deal last summer, and Milan have the option to make his stay at the Diavoli permanent for a fee of €24 million.

The Italian giants are widely expected to sign ‘Ibra’ on a permanent deal, but now it appears they could do so with an eye on using the forward as a bargaining chip to tempt Madrid into parting with their world-record signing.

A couple of things to think about here. Does Cristiano Ronaldo want to leave Real Madrid? If so, would he leave for Italy and Ac Milan? This entire story appears to have started because Italian Prime Minister and San Siro club owner Silvio Berlusconi remarked that he wanted to sign the Portuguese international, but that in itself doesn’t make such a deal a likelihood.

It does seem likely that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be making a permanent move to the Rossoneri as his goals, 19 of them, have helped Massimiliano Allegri’s side to within reach of their first Serie A title in seven years.

Clearly Jose Mourinho valued Ibrahimovic and the pair had one great season together at Inter Milan during which time the Swede netted 29 goals as the club romped to yet another title in 2008/09. Yes it’s true that Real Madrid could possibly do with another striker but it seems highly unlikely that such a deal would come at the expense of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is of course the Bernanbeu club’s main source of goals at present.
