SPURS last night moved a step closer to signing Lille sensation Eden Hazard.

The attacking midfielder has revealed he may join Tottenham.

Arsenal had been favourites to land Hazard, 21, who has a release clause of £33million.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have also been trailing the incredibly talented Belgian.

But Hazard admitted: "Maybe it will be Tottenham — they're a big English club. I said I would go to England and they have some very good players there."

Despite being constantly monitored by English sides, Hazard looked set for a move to Spain or Italy before admitting last month that he favoured a switch to the Premier League.

Hazard, a team-mate of former England star Joe Cole, would be a massive capture for Spurs.

But Emirates chief Arsene Wenger, who rates Hazard highly, will fight them all the way.

    • If they qualify for the CL which i think they will... It could be used to pay for him. It will also reassure the Modric, Bale to stay back as well.

The only problem for Spurs is, they may lose Harry.

Who knows, Maybe Mourinho come back to Spurs? London derbies will never be the same again... lol...

    • Lille chief: Hazard will not join PSG

Lille starlet Eden Hazard will not move to big-spending Ligue 1 rivals Paris St Germain, according to club president Michel Seydoux.

Hazard has been linked with a transfer to the current French league leaders, along with Premier League clubs Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea as a summer switch appears increasingly likely. However, in a boost for the English sides, Seydoux moved swiftly to rule out any sale to clubs within France.

"Hazard to PSG? We're not going to reinforce a French team," Seydoux said.

The Lille president also explained the challenges confronted by Ligue 1 clubs in keeping their best players, as stars continue to look for opportunities in more lucrative leagues.

"The difficulty for French clubs is to keep their players. We don't have an economy like other European clubs to be able to keep our top players," Seydoux told RMCsport. "The only club in the league with unlimited resources is PSG. We have to be intelligent to do as well with less, which isn't easy."
