Firstly, I wasn't kidding. The language discrimination against animals is indeed a serious issue. Im trying to spread greater awareness so we can all be more aware and improve.
Why am I thinking this way? Am I following some New Age teaching? Am I smoking too much weed and having brain damage? No, Im not.....seriously...
The thing is, we shouldn't use language which discriminate against animals.
Please let me explain.
Why would using the phrase 'You are a coward, like a chicken' , or, 'That salesperson is a snake' , or worse, 'Those prisoners are treated like animals' , be in any way discriminate against animals at all? Why should these phrases be stopped? Exactly, it's because these phrases convey negative stereotypes against animals. It's a very strong form of discrimination against animals and promote other forms of discrimination and mistreatment as a result, such as animal abuse, torture, caging, chaining, fur-ing, and all other sorts. All stems from the mindset, which is influenced by those negative stereotypes used, enforced, and spread in the language.
All this language and actions come from the same root.
On one hand, 'Stop Wearing Fur' , 'Stop Animal Abuse' , etc, are common, in fact many laws are placed against animal abuse in many countries. But language discrimination is so open and prevalent, in the media, in daily speech. We need to bring greater awareness, because it can influence our mindset and set us back.
But but but...
Animal abuse and wear fur, the animals actually get hurt and feel pain.
If we say animals, they dun feel hurt mah. They dunno we say them.
