Hi!
Anyone still knows of any places in Singapore with distinct peranakan culture??
perhaps you might wish to check this webby..
uhm there's 1 Restaurant in Raffles City Shopping Centre..
its name i cant rmb well..
sort of "Peranakan something"..
Wow. I didn't expect to get so many responses in such a short period of time.
Actually I'm working on a school project. I would just like to find out the public perception on the Peranakan culture.
Do you consider the peranakan culture to be something unique to S'pore?
Pls reply if possible and if you can, state your ethnic group.
Thanks!!!
my house. im half malay half chinese.
There are Peranakans all over the region. It's not unique to us but it's developed in it own way here, just as it has elsewhere.
You might want to set up an appointment at Katong Antique House or Rumah Bebe.

I think this peranakan thingy is a cultural concept rather than an ethnic one lor ... ![]()
yeah katong at upper east coast road has one beside gamers inc, which is near astons specialites. Rumah Bebe.
Thanks :D.
On a side note, in my opinion, although peranakans are all over the region, Singapore has best preserved its culture. Do you guys agree?
