Say a higher being presents you with a gift to know everything 'bout your future, but the catch is that there is nothing you can do to alter your destiny.
Would you choose to know everything? Or would you choose to find bliss in ignorance? And why?
----------------------------------------
For me, I'd rather be in the knowing than to be misled by some false hopes that things may happen.
The excitement and anxiety of what will happen tomorrow is what i live for, taking that away from me, makes me feel that there is nothing left in life to look forward to.
So, no.

Shows that Pitot's more of a 'process' person than an 'end' person ![]()
knowing the future and not being able to change anything is as good as saying hope no longer exists in this context ![]()
Choose to know my destiny so I'd know what needs altering. Then try to change it.
Sometimes these high beings get things wrong the first time round.
knowing things like your personal expiry date isn't quite pleasant actually...
It prevents false fatalism. For some.

My dear friend, read again! The catch is you can't change your destiny! (Even if the higher being got it wrong the first round
)

HUH? Why so much shorter? Our age gap ain't that huge...
Are you a pessimist? ![]()
Choosing to know would enable you to better plan your life. What if you just had a child? It would mean your other partner would be left alone to support your child. What if you are only left with one year, not knowing it, you worked to save more money for your future retirement when no such retirement would occur, you would be better off travelling the world with your love ones.
Those that choose not to know are just afraid of facing death, they fear about knowing when exactly they die as it will take away their vigour in living, the fear of knowing when exactly they die will also take away their hopes and dreams.
Is living with your head in a hole better?
or
Is living with your head above the ground better?
Since I can't do anything to change it, no.
if there's nothing you can do about it, then for fark ? ...
that's how you differentiate between the two types of folks. ![]()
a bag of water will land on you today, you can't avoid it even if you know about it.
but you can carry a change of clothes and towel with you, unless you enjoy walking around in wet clothes. ![]()
knowing something will happen but without the ability to stop it's occurence, but you have the ability to limit it's impact.
some folks like to walk in the dark, enjoy banging their head on walls, whereas others prefer to walk with the aid of lighting and avoid the walls. ![]()
banging head on walls can be quite entertaining and enjoyable for some folks. ![]()

I do not wanna know anything abt my designated future so tat I can create my own legacy.
v
nope.
no want to know.
so every day will be a mystery and an excitement.
I choose not to know
Oh fcuk it.
What are the numbers for this coming week's 6/49? ![]()
if you already know everything then there's little point in living.
to each his own.

Which is where there're 2 main schools of thought here.
The former enjoy the ambiguity; citing it's the very unknown and excitement that keep them going.
The latter would rather be all-knowing, even if there's nothing they can do to change their destinies.
While there's a romantic notion to the former, I'd still choose to be all-knowing. Heck, if I know I'm gonna be beggar when I'm 35, then even if I can't change my destiny - I still can save many years of precious time by not partaking in the rat race. ![]()
It's just too bad God (Whatever you percieve God to be) doesn't allow us to choose.
