    • For your information, sgforums's Web server is not hosted in Singapore. Thus, when you make a http request from Singapore, your transmission will need to traverse from Singapore -> Japan -> USA -> UK? before it will reach the Web server, which will in turn produce a response that will need to traverse back from UK->USA->Japan->Singapore, giving you an estimated average network latency of 250 milliseconds during off-peak hours.

      The best solution to solve this problem is to create a cloned Web server and host it in Singapore. However, someone will need to pay the monthy fees to a Internet Service Provider in Singapore for the static IP address/es and bandwidth which is quite expensive because it is a recurring cost.

      Conclusion: Jason need money to solve this problem.

    • The best thing you can do now is to train up for IPPT for the next few months and then pass it during RT-IPPT. Then no need to go for RT anymore for 2 years +

      BTW, I remember you can choose your starting RT period. If you dont want to go for March ones, then go for January ones.

      Or you can try what ElizaSwann suggesed...

    • I seriously need help regarding this topic. Anyone who provide me some useful information or links will have my thanks.

      SMS refers to small messaging service.

      Consider yourself in this situation:

      You are a network administator of a certain organisation that has its own in-house mail server.

      Your boss wants you to implement a system that can:

      Send SMS to groups of people with a common computer connected to the Internet.

      Send SMS alerts to their respective staff whenever its email account recevied an email.

      The system should be configurable so that only certain type of emails will trigger the SMS alerts. (Example: Junk mails should not trigger the alert)

      What can/will you do to enable such a system?

      Do you need to develop your own software or you can simply just buy it "off-the-shelf"?

      Do you need pay telcommunication company for the SMS?

    • Joi_lin, you are in a similar situation as I am, except that I am a man and a few years your junior.

      During certain ocassions, especially during Chinese New Year, people will ask me questions like "Do you have a girlfirend?" "When you are getting one? e.t.c. Then, they  will start to make comparisons like "Me, 24 years already married and having children blah blah blah" e.t.c. And yes, I will still be receiving red packets rather giving out red packets because it is Chinese tradition.

      =================================================================

      To solve this problem, the first step is to understand yourself better. You need to make things clear to yourself. Do you want to remain single for the rest of your life or do you want to get married and have childeren.

      If your final decision is to remain single for the rest of your life, then the problem will eventually disappear because without a desire for attachment, you have already sever(cut off) the main cause of suffering.

      If you have decided to get attached, then you have to be clear of what you want first before you can actively start looking for it. "Passive" mode does not work well nowadays because the demand and supply is not well balance here in Singapore. The demand for Singaporean men compared to the demand for Singaporean women is significantly different here.

      =================================================================

      And yes, any solutions provided here may applies to me as well.

    • Seriously speaking, if its snows in Singapore, people who does not live near the equator probably all froze to death. We all will be thinking how we can survive without any supply of food being imported from other countries... And sad to say, you cannot grow your own crops even if you migrate to other places because the weather is too cold.

    • Q: If you love someone, will you treat them with love and love them with your heart, regardless of what other people may think of you?

      A: Yes, but probably less than 10% of the time.

      In my opinion, a person can never love another person for long. In other words, love to me is just a temporary emotional feeling.

      For example,

      Today, I love you, treat you with love, love with my heart e.t.c.

      Next, I am busy with work for a week, never bother to "love" you.

      Next, we have a fight/argument. You are angry with me because of various reasons and I am angry with you because of various reasons.

      Next, we start to cut off communication between us. Situations like

      Unfocused attention, wandering minds, disconnecting smiles, invisible wall of air between them, and etc.....

      Body languages, facial expressions, responses and reactions gave them all away.

      are likely to happen.

      If neither party attempts/wants to patch up, the relationsip is over. But even if we manage to patch up, the emotional cycle will just repeat itself in future.

    • You can buy the access key directly from their In-game Store. But for this case, you may need to borrow the installation discs from people who has them.

      Else,you can look for the game in Funan IT Mall, should be able to find it.

      I am currently playing Fallout 3, its a very good game. But since this is an adult game, its not suitable for kids.

      I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

      I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life, freely.

    • Oh. One more thing I need to clarify.

      I would like to relate "free-thinker" with "not limited to specific beliefs" or "freedom of thoughts".

      A free-thinker has nothing to do with

      "Very lazy bunch of people... dun bother to think about god. simply jus dun care."

      or

      "They tend to look for religion when they meet with crisis in their life."

      And if you believed that you are an Atheist, then you are no longer a free-thinker.

    • I consider myself as a free-thinker.

      Part-time Buddhist, part-time Christian. But I am more towards Buddhsim as it sounds more logical to me.

      To me "God" obviously exists, it is just that different people has different interpretation of the word "God". Thats why is is quite confusing to answer question like "Does God exists?"

    • If verbal communication dosen't work, you can try using written communication. Go type and print out all the reasons why he/she should quit smoking.

      One thing I am certain is that unless both of you quit smoking, the relationship is pretty much over.

      A person who does not care for self cannot care much for others.

    • That was my first job, you can learn a lot of things from it but you better find out what kind of computer equipments your employer is using first beforehand.

      I got a nasty suprise when I joined my previous employer because the office is using very old computers like Pentium processor running Windows 95 OS.... and their accounting database server is running on a Penitum II processor with Windows NT... and that was in the Year 2005. There was hell lot of problems/complaints when I first started but I managed to get things running more smoothly after purchasing and upgrading with new computer + networking hardware and software like Windows XP... I have seen CRT monitors and Power Supply Units going up in smoke, PS/2 mouse that has intermitent connections, HDD that has only 2 GB storage space, printer that always get paper jam etc... and when user's computer HDD crashed, they may demand you to retreive their locally stored emails which is beyond anyone capabilities without the proper equipment, spare parts and clean room envrionment. I also discovered computers with few hundreds of malware infections.... sign...the list can go on. I am gald all those problems is history for me now.

    • Well... it is possible to meditate in a lying down position biggrin.png.

      Anyway jokes aside, I already know that the main practice is through meditation, not sleeping. Now, my question is how many years you need to meditate to realise 'no-self'?

      Personally, I seldom meditate. Even when I do(siting position), I will always fall asleep after about 30 mintues.

      Next, I do not see a need to really go meditate and realise this "no-self".

      My current purpose in life now is to earn as much money as possible.

      I have desires to get married, have children and a happy family of my own.

      I do not see any reasons why such practices or understanding of "no-self" will benefit me in getting what I wanted.

      So if you can convince me that such understanding is useful to me, I will spend more time practicing meditation.

    • The more I think about it, the more funny and silly I realised it is. Since all of us sleeps and start dreaming often, the "no-self" experience is just something we always have from the start, we just need to notice it, that is all!

      The thought of a new born baby who has never learn anything can experience "no-self", and you, who has spend many years studying and learning, has no idea what "no-self" is, makes me feel like laughing.

    • The 'No-Self' concept is one of the Buddha teachings which I never really understand. But I am begining to notice something which has always been with me but I never notice or pay little attention to.

      This may sound silly to you but this is what I just noticed:

      When I am awake right now, typing this reply, I have a form thinking, just named it "logical thinking". If I am to question myself "Who am I?". I can easily answer "My name is ..., I am a 25 years old Singaporean Chinese male ..." with my "logical thinking".

      BUT, if I am able to ask myself the exact same question "Who am I?" when I am totally unconcious (while dreaming or mediating?), it is impossible to answer this question without my "logical thinking".

      To me, the reason behind this experience is simple (this experience applies to you as well), while you are unconcious, you do NOT have this "logical thinking", therefore the concept of "I am" does not exist.

      In fact a lot of attributes which we easily understood with our daily "logical thinking" does not exist while we are unconcious. A very good example which I believe you can comprehen is that the concept of "Time" does not exist while we are unconcious.

      In another words, you will never know the "The time now is ..." when you are unconcious just as you will never know "I am ..." while you are unconcious.

    • First, what you need to do is a requirements analysis.

      ================================================================

      Customers are usually allocated to sales staff on the basis of geographical or industry division. This system must be able to do the following functions:

      There are two primary actors in your system. Customer, Sales Staff

      =================================================================

      1) Automatic allocation of new customers, prospects or leads
      a. Manage a customer and sales staff database
      b. Allow automatic or manual allocation of new customers to Sales staff based on preset criteria

      1) Means that new customers will automatically be assigned to gepgraphical location (e.g. Singapore) or industry division (e.g. consumer electronics, clothings, foodstuff)

      a. Means that the system must be able to VIEW / INSERT / UPDATE / DELETE customer and sales staff records. (with database of course)

      b. Means that the system will allow automatic or manual (recommend manual) assignment of customers to sales staff. (many to one relationship)

      ==================================================================

      2) Tracking the frequency of contact with customers
      a. Monitors when the customer was last contacted
      b. Generates a recommended list of customers that each Sales staff should visit

      2) Just record how many times the sales staff contacts each customer. (To make it simple for you, but the more accurate requirement is->  Number of  contacts  over a period of time. e.g. 10 times per year)

      a.) Use timestamp to record datetime in database per contact.

      b.) This requirement is very ambiguous (unclear)... you can assumpt that the top ten customers that contact the sales staff most often should be in the list.

      ===================================================================

      3) Analysis of customer base
      a. Provide a report on the size of each sales territory.
      b. Provide a report to recommend re-allocation of customers if sales territories are not balanced

      3) This is what you business students are suppose to be good at.

      Use pie charts, bar charts or whatever graphical report format you think is suitable.

      From your report,

      I should be able to know total number of sales in each territory in each year (history report).

      I should be able to know how many customers (CURRENTLY)  from each terriotry should be relocated.

      ===================================================================

      System should include 1) Administrative Module 2) Customer Allocation Module 3) Tracking Module 4) Report Module.

      This is the minimun number of modules you should produce but if you want to score high distinction, add another User Authentication Module which is just a login portal to authenticate your users.

      ===================================================================

      This application should be Web-based which means you will need a Web Browser (Firefox), Web Server (Apache), Database Server (MySQL) to deploy and test your system.

      You should choose PHP as development language but definitely not C++.

      Happy now?angel.png

      1.   Collaborate with your IT Department to allow your computer exclusive access to MSN.

      2.   Subscribe your own wireless Internet line and use your own Internet line to connect to MSN.

      ...

      Do what you want, but dont get caught.

      ...

      However, if you do get caught, you have to face the consequences.

      It is worth the money, this game is really fun and addictive...

      Once the battle gets hot, it is non-stop firing until the enemy's commander is destroy.

      Personally I will rather play this game than any Command and Conquer game... people who like real-time strategy games should try this out.

      This game is worth at least 9 out of10 points in rating.
