it will only changes when someone who has multi billion dollars challenges PAP with no assets that could be affected by their policy.

Regardless of PAP or any other party. So far, PAP can rule Singapore better than anyone, want to let Chee Soon Juan come and take over?
Unless SDA or WP grows stronger, and have enough money, then they can take over PAP. Currently, WP and SDA cannot even maintain their constituencies as good as PAP does. How to call them maintain Singapore.
We do not want to see the political situation in Taiwan, to be seen in Singapore. Not now, and not even after 2015.
Forget about people like Chee Soon Juan, he only come out to talk politics only during the election time. What did he contribute, or make us convinced that he has the ability to be a MP or rule Singapore in some day?
People of WP, SDA or even Chee Soon Juan, please come out to organise meet-the-people sessions, be part of NGOs to improve the welfare of poorer Singaporeans, so that we are convinced that you can be better than PAP, or an good alternative to PAP. -

But honestly, you do not sound like you know much about WP, despite living in Hougang

I can't speak for SDA.
For the WP, it won Hougang because the PAP incumbent carried out a botched job. After Mr Low won, residents felt he did better. This was why he won three times. On the contrary, his PAP opponent was into his second election, which he lost.
The Hougang Town Council has carried out many works and is ranked among the top 10 town councils in Singapore in terms of efficiency. As an Houganger, you cannot have not noticed
I also do not know much about SDP and Dr Chee, but he certainly does not seem to me as "talk politics only during the election time". I see him appear every now and then. It is different from saying his political activities are not in sync with the voting populace.
You also suggested opposition "come out to organise meet-the-people sessions". As as Houganger, you should know that Mr Low conducts MPS every week
The Youth Action Committee has also done welfare work. This is an open and transparent feature on our YAC website, with photos to accompany its factuality.

Many people seem to enjoy equating Taiwan with being "more democratic than Singapore", and then use it to justify why we should not have press freedom, free workers' and Students' unions, and political pluralism. These people (and you do seem to be one of them) ignore other countries like Switzerland or Finland or even Great Britain, where everything there is fine, and definitely not as messed up as Taiwan.
It would do good to think a few of your points through.
