What if a public holiday falls on Saturday?

in case u all don't know, christmas and new year day falls on Saturdays. these are all major holidays, yet it falls on saturday. sigh~~!

actually, after some thinking about it, i realise since the government is so nice to allow us to work a 5 days week, since we already have so many saturday off, it's fine if some public holiday falls on saturday.
but then, having christmas and new year falling on a saturday within a week period is kinda heart breaking.

In the US..
almost all holidays will result in long weekend... either Fri or a Mon.
Labour day weekend, memorial day weekend..
Maybe.. shd consider this alternative..

in australia they have holiday for 'christmas day' and next day 'boxing day'. this year they will have public holiday on monday and tuesday to compensate

Very hard...most WASP countries and also European workers are demanding more leisure time with higher pay..some unemployment benefits are so good, many people are bumming around
the culture here is different, my Aussie friends told me, Singaporeans are so willing to work so hard for even higher pay, or pitiful pay increment..
They were shocked to load up on the MRTs and find people ever so sleepy... -

at least we still get that half day on friday if a holiday falls on saturday.

I think it is only fair that should a public holiday falls on a Saturday, which is now considered a non-working day, hence 1-day holiday should be compensated on the next working day.
This is how the system works over the past century (???) in Singapore. It is only recently that the govt implement this 5-day week, like many European countries do. However, I think they may have overlooked this problem that should a public holiday falls on a Sat, should it be compensated on the next working day.....
Bear this in mind, now Sat and Sun are equal.. Both are non-working days. -
