If you want to catch the guy, you gotta be there, not 2km away in a dim room facing 6 screens.
As regard to the Jakarta bombing, the white van just drove into the driveway and exploded immediately... there was nothing the guy watching the CCTV do except call for an ambulance and tell the police it was a bomb.
CCTV is there placed to provide tipoffs of suspicious characters... ie its possible that the white van has driven pass the drive way of the hotel lobby a few days before the bombing, stopped and dropped off the suspect when they were doing their dry runs or inspecting which spot would inflict the maximum damage. Its possible that during the bombing, there was a key man in the lobby, waiting for some VIP to come out to the lobby and signalling for the van to come up?
