When any companies here try to show that they are accountable and transparent, what do they mean.
Do they mean that their decision makings, purchases of goods and services or charging of fees etc are reaching a high standard of certain acceptable practices.
If they can only claim to be accountability and transparency releasing just a few data here and there to advertise their companies, what is the point?
Where are the standards on employment figures? Any openness and information to show that sufficient openness to prevent wrong doing, compromises, or inefficiencies of the kinds seen lately. Public transport companies are still trying to increase fares despite making S$50 million in 2004. There were so many claims of high industrial safety standard by MOM for many years but what we now know is there suddenly occur so many safety problems and even highway collapses.
Or is it that our culture is one of exaggeration and self-justifications?
