Casino is just a part of the puzzle (not the ONLY) which we need to put together to form a strong and vibrant economy in Singapore.Originally posted by SnowFlag:You speak as though only casino can help us now. Then why are we paying million dollars to our miw, and they can only think of a casino to solve unemployment. Btw, when the top takes millions, n they expect the bottom to struggle with ever increasing prices. You think they really concern when they wanted to build a casino.

Did I ever ask Singapore to sacifice its future? Btw, the casino is meant to prey on the weakness of your so-called "iresponsible"; gamblers. Or do u mean the "ireponsible" gahment?
I disagree. Most can, some cant. If what you say is true, singapore have failed miserably in its education system and I dont think so.Originally posted by SnowFlag:Some ppl can differentiate betw a good n bad egg. But sadly, mostly can't.
Because the way you put it, it is as though it is the only way. And you keep saying we need casino for economy in Singapore. Haven't I rebutted that in my previous post.Originally posted by Gazelle:Casino is just a part of the puzzle (not the ONLY) which we need to put together to form a strong and vibrant economy in Singapore.
This is part of a puzzle. We need to see things as a whole puzzle.Originally posted by Gazelle:In order not to distort this thread, i would prefer that we dont discuss about general inflation (e.g. transport price hike), minister's salary, PAP's Pay and Pay policy.
it also shows that they have run out of ideas, but still thinks they deserve a million dollar pay. Even MM Lee said he focus to much on the so-called scholars in the past, n also depends too much on the foreign MNC. Hence the lack of entrepreneurs.Originally posted by Gazelle:Of course our government is concern and aware of the impact of having a casino, if not we could have had a casino 20 to 30 years ago. It is clear that the reasons why we are only considering it now is because: -
a) We are facing intense competition from Thailand and Malaysia to replace Singapore as the air hub of SE Asia.
b) We are a matured society
c) The world is getting too unpredictable and we just cannot depend on existing industries to support Singapore growth.
of course, I have ideas. First is to reduce the pay of our million dollor MIW by 80%. You probably dun undertstand why. But the man in the street can easily explain.Originally posted by Gazelle:If you have ideas that can help attact billion dollars investment and help Singapore to stay ahead of competition, please share!!
How can this be compared with casino?Originally posted by Gazelle:There are many business in this world that prey on consumer's weakness. For example, !##@%! enhancing, zero down payment car financing, zero interest installment to buy plasma TV and other branded goods, credit cards, insurance, etc.
I am interested to know which part of my statement did i imply this?Originally posted by Gazelle:Are we also saying that Singaporeans cant make decision and we need our government to decide what is right or wrong?
If u are talking about the education systems, it is back to the topics of the teachers and the present day students.Originally posted by Gazelle:I disagree. Most can, some cant. If what you say is true, singapore have failed miserably in its education system and I dont think so.

I disagree with you, being a student myself currently. Our education system has failed, since clearly no student in the school feels that CME or Moral Ed. is important when we see the lessons.Originally posted by Gazelle:I disagree. Most can, some cant. You're real smart peni's. You made such an interesting observation, did you think it was a casino because the building was built in the shape of C A S I N O? Or did you see the form of black jack table or maybe jack pot machines being installed? Or maybe they were making the world's biggest roulette table cast in concrete?Originally posted by peni's:Anyway I was at Sentosa recently... took the monorail. Lo and behold somewhere between palawan beach and the maritime museum, I see a whole new development (giant of a building being built).![]()

If you bothered to look for a huge white sign board posted at the front of the construction site, you will be able to tell who is the developer, who is the main con, who are the architects, type of project and project duration.
The new development you said, is lemme see about 5 stories high with a huge basement? Its the new bus terminal in sentosa.

So the basis of ur argument is that singaporeans have no self-control?Originally posted by SnowFlag:Casino can results in suicides and broken families. And serves as a catalyst to further erose the values of the ppl. Addiction to gambling will cause many serious problems. Casino is more serious than 4D, toto, because in Casino, the gamblers lose quickly. We can say that the casino will cause the gamblers to lose more and a catalyst to the social problems.
Some Singporeans here are just like domesticated pussy cats, they get worried when they are introduce to the outside world.Originally posted by Forever84:So the basis of ur argument is that singaporeans have no self-control?
I don't see what the big deal is about having a casino, its not like the first casino in the world or something. Theres always a trade-off, [casino - social problems] vs [ no casino - less tourist attractions]. Of course they could market Singapore into a more family orientated tourist spot, but nothing i say is going to make a difference since the casino seems pretty much a done deal.
