service is of no religion or race basis. It's a job ppl do for living. Be it part- time or full- time. Handling unreasonable customers are part of our daily lives and so wat?
this observation was not made by me, but by several people I've talked to as well. The difference in general between service given by Chinese and Malays is that Chinese are more cold towards you. Its because they're hao lian, which proves my point that service in Singapore is lousy because you lot are arrogant bastards.
then again, it's a mutual thing. if the service industry in sinapore is incapable of handling unreasonable ppl, then in the first place, why are these group of unreasonable ppl making life miserable for ppl?
Service people have every right to be indignant when abused by a customer... but the problem in Singapore is that the service industry people are so arrogant, they let this affect their work, giving sloppy service to others. This shows poor discipline, lack of commiment to the job, a couldn't be bothered attitude, and disgraces their establishment and country. In other countries, they get abused by customers, but they put personal feelings aside. Not like Com'on lar, don't be childish to agrue this kind of thing. We all have bad experience at certain restaurant, BUT we MUST have also met nice servers.Singaporeans, who wear their emotions on their sleeve. If they don't like you they will show it on their face.
Singapore customers treat you lot like that because you deserve it. If service was better, there would be less need to be abusive and the incidence of abusive customers will drop through good handling by the staff. As it is, bad service staff still outnumber bad customers, explain that one.
Singapore also lacks staff who are willing to go the extra mile. I accept the fact that disgruntled service people give bad service. But even when they are not having PMS, they won't even lift a farking finger to help you. In Hong Kong (!) of all places, if you walk into a shop which has sold out of the things you want, the counter clerk will run to another shop in Kowloon to get you your goods. You think this will happen in Singapore? It shows how far we have slided.
Did it ever occur to you MOST SINGAPOREANS CANNOT TAKE HARDSHIP????
Yes... thus the service in Singapore is crap....

in this industry for 7 yrs.... not once being yelled by customer, plenty of compliments, lots of regular customers. So KID, be grown up, learn to look at each individual industry and see that each group has their own Bad, or Very Bad apples. Even i go dine out, i also get very rude service and foul attitude. But being in the industry myself, i understand and don't make a big issue over it.
If thats so... Singapore has lots of bad bad apples... maybe we should become an apple export hub

at's why most of the construction sites employ BANGALAS, THAIS, to work? same for F&B, students work for part- time, before they can be trained, all resign to go back school, full- timers, just finish O's, A's... cannot tahan long hours, kenna yelled by customers... cannot tahan oil and heat, RESIGN.
haha... if they cannot tahan oil and heat theuy should not have joined in the first place. You people think every job is going to be easy, sitting in airconditioned room.... its not like that anywhere in Singapore ok...

It's also a society default that ppl cannot take hardships.
Yah... its society's fault.... its the customers fault... its not the service industry's fault for not training their people properly

There are still good service restaurants. Just because you are paying, doesn't mean demanding. We don't mind being yelled at, we don't mind clearing up vomit mess, choked toilet, half finished plates, stand for long hours going home with smell of oil and all kinds of funny stuff. We don't mind working on weekends without being double paid.... all these is our basic commitment.
CHOY!!!! Then why are you still posting?
When you want to pre- judge on this industry and it's ppl, take a good look at the ppl who serve you the next time.... I DOUBT YOU"LL EVEN CLEAR YOUR OWN TRAY at fastfood outlets or foodcourt.
hahaha... just because you are in the service industry, doesn't make you so holy ok.... and yes, I do clear my tray at fastfood restraunts when I eat there by myself. I know and seen a lot of people do too. Unlike you, we are actually nice to those poor ah soh's clearing tables at Mcdonalds.

PLS don't discrimate all because of 1, it's really very unfair to those who have put in their best to serve and not get a THANK YOU from guest. WE DON"T MIND, it's part of our job.
FARK YOU LAH.... in Singapore, bad service is not the exception... its the rule. You can't throw a rock without hitting someone who gives bad (or even mediocre) service here. Whether or not someone sees the need to thank you is their perogative... I do it myself and encourage others who don't do it to thank the people serving. But thats only if they're deserving, having done a good job.
YOU WANT TO HELP US IMPROVE?? then next time you dine out, drop your 2cents worth to the manager...
haha... never eaten in such a high class place with a manager before.... but I know a guy, went to eat curry fishhead in Serangoon.... when he told the manager that the fishhead was not fresh, he got lousy service and hostile looks for the duration of his meal...
PPL who are reading this thread will know that what you'd said is really shallow and you are obviously JUST A KID!!!!
and I don't deny it.

but at least the sh1t which I say makes more sense than the sai you've been spewing out...

I am not trying to claim credit that we ppl are something, just tat THERE ARE ALWAYS GOOD AND BAD!!! KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!!! you only complain about the bad, have you ever compliment those good???
my eyes are open ....

and no, I don't see any remarkable change in service quality... still as bad as ever.
In an Asian society.... we are vocal in our complaints... but if there's been a good job done.... we won't say a thing... because there's nothing to complain about!

silence means approval.
And when you see disproportionately more letters of complaint in the ST than letters of praise, that doesn't mean we are nitpicking... it means that service in Singapore truly and duly sucks...
BE FAIR TO US lar
First, give us good service. Otherwise, go complain to NTUC lah

i also want you to know that; pls mind your language. YOU wanna be foul, pls go to BAR, not hear. SPEAKERS CORNER is for ppl to voice out comments, views. NOT being foul and discrimantion.
Mind my language? You're not setting too good an example either... lau lan, sia lan, cho bo lan... my my... you sure have a fetish with cocks....

I also want you to know that Service industry always have manpower problem, regardless in which type of level, from fast- food to high end dining. Reason, Long hours, hard work, weekend burn, holidays burn, NO LIFE!
The young groups who joined, barely have enough time for training, they are put on field, older groups, say mids from 20- 30s, feel embarrassed.. SIA SWAY, they said, to serve. 30- 40s, Need more money for kids in school, F&B pay too low, 50s- 60s... long hours standing, too tiring, cannot take weight.. we employ them we also worry for their safety. Wet and slippery floors....
You should know what you are getting into, instead of blaming the customers.
is it because this trade embarrass you??? because you cannot take hard ship or because you know it's not easy being one? OR is it because you'd been so mean to servers, you're afraid that one day you become a server, things happen to you?
no.. its because being a 'server' means getting kept in a server rack with ethernet cables plugged in my backside....

Com'on lar, don't be childish to agrue this kind of thing. We all have bad experience at certain restaurant, BUT we MUST have also met nice servers.
I don't really know... the 'servers i met can't really talk back.... being made of plastic and metal and inanimate materials.... therefore I don't know if they are nice or not...

If you are so keen to PROMOTE GOOD SERVICE, then why not open a new thread to nominate bad restaurants with bad service, so in case they come into the forum, they get to see and they can do something?
couldn't be botehred... some of us actually have a life you know. The problem is too big to solve. If I need to promote good service, I'll complain to CASE

Also thanks to you, I showed what you wrote to my service crew, infact, i'd emailed to all the outlets and everyone who i know that is in this industry. There are some of us who cry foul... NOT FAIR! but there are some who also admit not giving their best. SO??? learn lor... Neutral
If that helps them to improve their bloody service.... I have no objections.... good for them.... you can email my toilet paper to them too, if you think that will improve their service

I dare to you walk out a restaurant if their service is really that bad... walk out and don't pay service charge. see what happens....
There won't happen... because in Singapore, once you threaten not to pay, the servile balless staff will start fawning over you... they don't even have the spine to call the police
