Dustbin @ Bus Int and MRT Stn is to prevent the IRA style of bombing airports and streats by placing bombs in dustbinOriginally posted by _Aaron_:Do you think that we're going too far?
First we had trash cans inconspiciously removed from bus interchanges and MRT stations.
Then we have the announcements telling us not to leave our belongings unattended, and the pictures.. Who can forget a picture of a teddy bear sitting on the floor, looking cute? What kind of a message are we giving here?
The increase of armed patrols in public places, now in orchard road as well, and residential areas.
The introduction of CCTVs.
Just some examples that the government has introduced.
Do you think its effective? Do you think the government is being too extreme?
Comments anyone?
IRA's way too rusty liao, but never done in SG mah...Originally posted by _Aaron_:That is assuming, bombs are easily planted in Singapore.
I don't really know how to make a bomb, but is it that easy?
And i've been seeing some trash cans back now, not to mention that back in the period when trash cans were scarce, there were still a few lying around.
This isn't a precautionary measure at all i feel.

in that case, you must build more tesla coilsOriginally posted by skyfoo:seriously, terrorists' attacks cannot be prevent. there a 1001 ways of terrors. u prevent 1, there's another 1000. if we remove bins, there's always suicide bombers. as for the extra security, it is meant for deterrence. but, if a bomb-filled vehicle came crashing to a building, u think the police can stop them?
It is extremely easy. Instructions for making bombs can be found on the internet and the resources needed can be easily purchased from NTUC, Guardian, and any agriculturial shop. If you want to make the thingy more potent, you can make a cylinder bomb {which has been done before and killed many}.Originally posted by _Aaron_:That is assuming, bombs are easily planted in Singapore.
