Not everyone finds it easy to improve. There are also still a lot of Singaporeans out there who are bound by economic constraints. Like I said before many time, not all people have rich families to support their studying. Not all people are also born in a conductive environment with a silver spoon in their mouth to nuture them. There are still many people in Singapore now struggling to just even land a good perm job that have been taken up by degree holders. Things looks good because that is the picture they want to paint. 
The question to ask is do you JUST want a guy who wants to improve himself. Which poor guy out there doesn't want to try hard to improve himself to give his parents or even his childeren if he has any a better life. Can you accept a man who works hard but cannot make it. He works hard but maybe stays as a normal clerk with maybe a salary of thousand plus a month?
Many of the lower rung caste in Singapore already know how their chances in life are like. The very least you could do is to stop flaming them. No one will blame you if you say you want a rich guy with money. Thats a fact of life. People are attracted to success. Give them a break

i have a (ex)friend too.. din like a guy, said he's too fat.. then when we were in final year, she's sudden;ly like, oh A is very cute actually... and i think the reason is cuz he's gona graduate with 1st class honors and that means big bucks for her..
after all, she's always said she wanted someone who's rich, good looking, smart, nice to her, loves her.... i think well, dream on man/ -

Sometimes you have to back off without criticising what you may or may not understand. Alot of your comments can be miscontrued as destructive criticism , not constructive criticism.
No point in criticising circumstances which are beyond control - some men may find their love overseas - it is their choice . Women , too , may find their love overseas. Don't generalise all our singaporean guys . Love is borderless. It is their right to find love- locally or internationally (as long as there is no third party involved). Just wish them happiness .
