well coz maybe there has demand. maybe the police force should stop patrolling orchard road searching for terrorist and attend to problem in their face now.

if policemen are like what previous writer say about them , avoiding responsiblity of writing report, and duties to protect singapore. then i really worry what kind of terror fighting are we talking about?? seriously in doubt -
Police Bosses must do something.
Don't just sit on backside and get fat pay.
Don't give performance bonus to useless Poilce Chiefs -
After years of bragging about talents, efficiency, productivity, do we see solutions to many problems brought up by the citizens ?
If duties have been planned and executed in result-oriented work processes, there is no reason for crimes of solitations to spread to inner Orchard Road or lose millions in the oil deal with China Aviation.
Is the mishandling of safety problems resulting in Nicol Highway collapse excusable given all the gross negligence at senior level?
Is there a negligence in allowing criminals to slip through causeway check-point in the blatant manner in the Huang Na case? Is the chief or minister taking responsibiliry for lack of effective and accountable work processes, or non-performance of duties and responsibilities.
It is sad that this is the kind of talent, meritocracy or management excellence we are talking about trying to project to the world as showcase of success.
When will the top echelon realize that they are answerable for lack of efficient accountable and transparent work processes in all cases ? Is the political leadership allowing departments to get away from failures and mishandling using taxpayers' PR machinery to put up justifications to explain away all problems. Are the leaders only worth the rhetoric and would blame the work site problems on lack of safety consciousness of others or postponing solutions to the next generation.
It is sad that despite all the inefficiencies, collapses, accidents, high costs and lack of entrepreneurship etc, and heavy losses in oil deals etc, super bonuses (private sector average is not even one month) will now be given to all the chiefs without accountability as in the previous years.

i saw streetwalkers there all the way back in 1999. i was told that they were spotted too some 2 years back. so it brings us to the conclusion tt such vice activities have been in tt area for quite some time and the media is only talking abt tt now?

Officers licensing of entertainment and vice control and ministry surely should be held accountable and transparent for their works.
Now vice has spread to Orchard Road from Orchard Tower as reported in the Sunday Times. Foreign tourists are surprised at the change of Orchard Road. They say that image of Singapore has now been run down. Such a state of affairs only poorly reflected on our poor efficiency of police and the rest of governance. Your views?

Ok, I'm not advocating a 'Us aginst them' theory here, but I can sense double standards in this issue. Lately, the mata had been cracking down hard on hookers solliciting in areas like Geylang and Joo Chiat, hookers who catered to the needs of horny local men, but on the other hand, the mata seems to be turning a blind eye to the ones on Orchard Road, who specifically targets horny tourists and Caucasian men. So our white colonial masters can gain access to hookers, but the local men can't? This is what 150 years of colonial rule has done to us.(sounds familiar?)

Prostitution is not an offence in Singapore. That is why there are brothels lining small alleys and streets in the Geylang area. However that is that. Only the Geylang area.
There are strict rules enacted to ensure that prostitutes are registered and screened every few months, to ensure safety for the local patrons. Any act of prostitution outside Geylang is uncontrollable and therefore is banned.
