When the gov had money, it meant singaporean had money. When it don't have money, it meant singaporean had to pay more tax to make it become sustainable.
Are we paying less taxes now even with growth of 8% in our economic. Whereby the our bosses, civil servants, GIC got big fat bonuses and enjoying luxury life style with most of them owns cars. And b'cos of these people that why the gov is revising taxes for vehicles to their benefits. Just look at our constituency meeting, you can see loads of cars owned by these people?

whether u like it or not they've already settled on having a casino...currently they're inviting tenders for the project..no larger than 15000 suqare feet and no more than 2500 machines..thats much bigger than any casino in the world..bigger than vegas' bellagio or the venetian..but i dont think it'll be as posh and grand as those 2. cheers to all of us in the pro casino camp

The stupid SMRT CEO mentioned on papers that fares will likely to be inceased. Luckily, someone wrote to newspaper and question them; why SMRT is making healthy profits and yet wanted to revise transportation fares upward?

Frankly, the money tat the minister made is not going to be significant to the economics of singapore. And u r probably wrong about them getting lesser pay in private sector... they probably already get a very high pay if they r from private sector before being pulled into being mp. My friend's son was one of the victims; his son was doing studies in Australia and the son has even lost his entire daily expenses and school fees. So how...? This casino thing is the last chance to turn around the Singapore's traditional pro-foreign investment economic strategy to revive its recent years of decline in its economic competitiveness.
To seize this opportunity, I thought our scholars would be putting up a well-considered overall economic master plan with casino as kingpin to strategize international marketing and networking e.g. any Fortune 500 companies may want to set up total business windows here to sell products and services to the world. Call centres run by EDB will facilitate setting up of businesses here and linking to all SMEs. Businessmen all over the world, may want to park their monies here to benefit from our financial hubbing and banking network.
I only see social problems ahead and the casino remaining a cut-off and isolate operation since there is no such networking strategy to integrate casino to businesses or investments opportunities to and from Singapore.
What is the point of making promise to set up integrated casino if there is no accountable and transparent plan being put to implementation up to this late stage.
Do we have scholars or talents or master economic plan to run the next lap?
How to revive the weakening Singapore domestic sector of the economy which now needs the utmost help because of high costs?
