My observation - immigration booth is available - no people in there. Both Singapore and Malaysia is guilty of this. Both Tuas and Causeway have same problem. The booth is there, just that it is not open. I was stuck at the causeway for 3 hours last week and was stuck in Tuas for 1.5 hours the week before.Originally posted by LittleTiger:Things are already good there why destroy it? Police check- Some police are damn lazy, requesting each and every car to move to him before he checks. Others, who are more diligent, move up to 4-5 cars to check. This way, each round of checking will be faster. They need to improve the attitude of the lazy police to get them to use their leg. Lazy bums.
If they do the above two, the jam problem should be much improved. Being a regular visitor of Malaysia (not JB), my conclusion is the jam is not cause by the size of the lane, but the above two problems. In particular, only 4 booths are open the week before at Tuas when it has like more than 20 booths available, causing needless jams. -

Why replace the Causeway with a Bridge
The underlying issue is that if there is no redevelopment to the Causeway, the “consortium” cannot demand revised charges.
Just compare the charges imposed on the 2nd Link and the old faithful Causeway.
The “consortium” can demand 10 times more for the charges to all users once the Causeway is replaced by a bridge (S or straight). So the “consortium” will petition M government to force this issue under all kind of disguises.
Hope that S government do enough calculation and get enough return for a win win settlement. -
Why jam at causeway and 2nd Link
It is a matter of tit for tag.
For the levy imposed on all the users of the 2nd link imposed by the Malaysian (government or “consortium”), the Singapore will peg the same.
For every inconvenience imposed by the Malaysian Custom, the Singapore will reciprocate the same.
If the Malaysian Custom open 3 booths out of the 20+, Singapore will do the same.
Why make it convenience for Malaysian to spend their hard earn ringgit in singapore, causing M government to lose millions in various form of taxes.
We reciprocate and why make it convenience for Singaporean to spend their hard earn S$ in Malaysia, causing S government to lose millions in consumption tax, petrol tax, lost of earning by businessmen, etc.
Hence the jam. -
