i've heard a lot in the news that over there people are getting banned from saying "merry christmas" or making any refrence to christianity regarding christmas. they have to say "seasons greetings" or "happy holidays " instead.christians are banned from putting up christian stuff in public and even the US constitution is not shown because it has the word "God" in it. all over, people are getting prosecuted, sued and fined for trying doing anything with regard to their religeon. hey..despite all that hoo hah about us being a police state, at least i can safely wish someone a MERRY CHRISTMAS over here in singapore without getting the government's foot up my arse.

Here in the states no one is going to arrest anyone for saying merry christmas. The issue is people are trying to be more politically correct by mentioning more religiously neutral sayings such as happy holidays. Happy holidays works for anyone's religion no matter what it may be.
The 1st amendment of the US constitution states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
So basically in the US, public areas (funded by tax dollars) cannot have a religious bias. There have been many cases where the ACLU has filed lawsuits against cities who display the 10 Commandments on public property. And the cities have lost every one of these lawsuits. -
I think relaxing the situation might help, you know, allow interactions. No point hiding everything and causing misunderstandings.

The greetings changes is more likely because the Jewish have a religious holiday from Dec 8-15 & Dec 22.
And as Christian in U.S celebrate the birth Christ in a grand fair, it now seems that such affairs might affect the muslim community as direspecting them. So as to ensure that their feelings are not hurt & that they would not do anything silly such as flying an airplane, greetings for christmas therefore, changed to happy holidays or sessions greetings.

Muslims can have their holidays and I can have mine.
If saying Merry Christmas hurt the muslims then they should get out and go live in Saudi Arabia where Christianity is banned, and christians go to jail for meeting other christians on Christmas day.
America should treat her minorities the same way as Saudi Arabia treats hers...... not happy? then go home.... -

No HO HO HO and hardly any christmas decos. It's all seasons greetings and happy new year. My friend used to work for a sports stall, during christmas this jewish lady abused the heck out of her cos there were christmas decorations in the front window. Like whatever.... seriously!! -
i mean seriously, what the heck is wrong with those jews? they always cry "anti-semitism" for every little thing..no wonder the arabs hate them. if some damned jew can display his hannukah junk in public christians should have the right to put up christmas signs too..this isn't seperation of church and state, this is totally discriminating against christians, its as good as putting a ban to christianity. seriously man, muslims don't even make a noise when we display christmas stuff, they dont mess with us we dont mess with them but those jews really took it too far. its no wonder the arabs hate the jews.

In trying to "protect" the minorities, I feel the EU government is actually separating the races further because of tension. Take the tudung case, all it takes is some pig-headed people and a blabbering media and you get some hurt people who become violent.
Solution, to ban tudung, should also stop media from blowing up the incident, but at this stage, stopping them is difficult.

These ppl are nothing but trouble maker. Dont create havoc and make trouble messing up other ppl country. Thanks that the races here in spore are so good and harmonous, respecting each other and there are even muslim going to church during christmas to congratulate christian.... What a loving sight.... They cannot enter Malaysia or Indonesia as easily legally as America due to teh Americans being "more human". Besides, these people tend not to know the world well enough that America is not really a good place to stay in, for the cost of living is not cheap in the cities. We actually ought to sympathise with these people as they are seeking a better life and not trouble. But these do not apply to the black sheeps.

If the Moslems and the Jews are offended by displays of Christmas, they do not belong in a pluralistic society.I mean, we shoul all tolerate each other's religious holidays and Christmas is also a global celebration.Move on and embrace the world, do not hide behind your yarmulk or hijab and gripe about how unlike the world is today when compared to the days of Caliph Ali and the Maccabi kingdom.It's groups within their communtities who act like such that hinder their progress and limit their scope for dialogue and engagement with other races/religions.If you dislike the way America is run, get out.If you dislike Singaporeans, PRC nationals please get the fuck out too.

In Singapore, we have certain measures in place to protect religous freedom. Christians are not allowed to conduct door-to-door evangelism. While allowed to give out donations, religous groups are not allowed to display any religous symbolism (eg. crosses, crescents and the sort) unless it is within their own religous community. Buddhist monks are not allowed to solicit alms in public. Christian schools cannot force Muslim students to attend chapel services.
And of course no preaching of any religon in public etc.
This is a good system which suits us. The different religons learn to respect each other's right to practice. Having to do backflips because of political correctness is gay. I say fark them. If its Christmas then bloody well say its Christmas. If its Hari Raya then say its Hari Raya. The sooner we learn to accept each other's differences the better. -
