GRC system has been around since 1988. That time, only 3 men were needed. The number has been doubled since 1997. I just hope LHL will reduce the size of the GRCs during the next election. After all, his dad said 3 men per GRC was about enough. It was GCT who allowed up to 5 or 6 men per GRC.Originally posted by drawer:Not only that,GCT also come out with the idea of GRC election system, knowing fully well that the opposition might not be able to come out of enough candidates of different races to participate in the general election. And PAP keep finding excuses to disqualify the opposition candidates also make things more difficult for the opposition leaders to cope with the election. One thing says it all,the word "fairness" in GCT's mind already long gone after he get constantly screwed by Lou Lee after he had succeeded PM post.

I think Low Thia Khiang will make a good Prime Minister & Education Minister. Sylvia Lim & Poh Lee Guan are high-calibre people. But the WP is too small. How about a coalition government with NSP? The government should resign and hand over to a WP-NSP coalition based on the lines of proportional representation now.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:No, no, no......
Much as I disagree with many governmental policies, the government cannot resign now. Who's going to take over? Who has the capability to run the country now after all these years of single party rule? Chiam See Tong cannot tong his constituency much longer, considering his age and as for Chee Soon Juan, the less said the better. In case you haven't realized, we do not have a shadow cabinet ready to take over if the government resigns or collapses.

We have LTK and Steve Chia. Personal...*ahem*... history should not blot a person's intellectual record. I think if Singapore gives Chia the chance, he will, unlike Dr CSJ, prove to be a reformist who can being about real change in Singapore.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:No, no, no......

Steve Chia was a rising star until the nude photo scandal. He simply blew his chances away.Originally posted by pikamaster:We have LTK and Steve Chia. What we need in our next stage of development is full-scale political transformation.
the (hopeful) pikamaster.
P.S.: forget about the nude photos... tt is an ad-hominem distraction the Ruling Party is using to slander/defame/discredit Mr Steve Chia.
haha... who's the facade here? Yo, isn't SG just one big facade of democracy?Originally posted by talksoftly:On the contrary, why dont u say that, its these people that allowed the people to see through the facade of the opposition?
I think, its very simple, dont talk so much, no happy leave. Else speak up properly, dont just talk and talk here, where no one can hear u. It like primary school students having class discussion. Especially with ur forced and unsupported views.
Come on, u can do better then that!!!
Show us!! If u can replace the govt, lets see u displace them. Else i think u already prove that, u cant replace them.
then i think u should shut up! and i think u are spending too much time in this forum. Get a life man......
I agree on this pt... except tt it is the govt who blew his chances away, not himself. C'mon, I serously have doubts tt our ministers n MPs r as clean as they portray themselves to be...Originally posted by SBS9611D:Steve Chia was a rising star until the nude photo scandal. Of all the absurd statements you have made in this thread, this by far comes the closest in destroying what remaing credibilty you have.Originally posted by PRP:Dakkon,
Let's settle the question of whether the govt should resign first before we go on to next issue.

The PAP's promise that constituencies which voted for PAP would get priority for estates upgrading is an offence uner the Parliamentary Elections Act.It was simply bribing the voters and the govt then fulfil the promise.Jeya said it was vote buying.Since the promise is against the law,PAP leaders concerned should have been prosecuted & punished.
Not only the tactic is corrupt,it is the thinking that the govt need not discharge its duties fairly & it can favour the ruling party that is dangerous.Civil servants might also think it is alright to use thier official responsibilities to favour anyone whom they like or for other selfish reasons.
The PM who initiated the policy has already become SM.Other ministers who agree with him should also go.
The govt should go.I believe I can take over.
Typhoon,Okay, sorry lah... I was wrong to pass judgement at such a premature stage.
My opinion absurb?Show how they are absurb! It is easy to anyhow pass judgement.
Let's settle the question of whether the govt should resign first before we go on to next issue.Every mean must have an end, and if getting "the government to resign" had been your means in order to acheive an end, namely the betterment of the lives of Singaporeans, you would have my support.
Perhap u are jealous with my ability or u have monetary interest in this topic.Of course I'm jealous friend... after all, if ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest man on earth.
U are one of the few surfers who think that my opinions in this topic are absurb. If u can't find my opinions are correct, then of course i have no credibility in your eye.No offence mate....

Simple fact is the PAP does not want anyone else except themselves to run the country. They are not more exceptional or capable than any average man on the street, although the controlled press tells the world otherwise. Take away the PAP kangaroo court and their abuse and use of litigation suits a lot of capable people will come out.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:No, no, no......
