Points system for CCA in schools

in my opinion, this point system actually makes life difficult for some students
see, the points u get through CCA (co-curricular activities) will eventually affect entry into JC/University .... hence , some people will join CCA's that they do not enjoy just to get the points . i thought CCA was meant for students to join and enjoy. but now, it looks more like join or you die ..... if any one has comments or if you think that my post is incorrect please feel free to voice your opinions -

well , maybe thats how you see it but i thought its supposed to be passion for games not passion for points ......

i used to feel rather unfair and hard done by the CCA point systems in schools.
Having a cca like soccer would definitely earned you less points than a member of a uniform groups. Soccer competitions in schools are held mostly once a year and thats perhaps the only opportunity for us to gain points.
as for uniform group members,there are countless courses and points accredited
for the ranks attained.activities like SYF (singapore youth festival) also benefits them.
A member of the soccer team spends as much time or more on their CCA as any member of other CCAs.The opportunity to gain points are fewer for such CCAs and I believe it is the case for many other CCAs as well.
This puts the students in a difficult situation of choosing a CCA that can earn them more points or a CCA that they feel passionately for.
Such a point system should be made fair to all students regardless of what their CCA's are.There must be equal opportunities to gain points when we place all the CCAs side sby side and compare them.
CCA points affect students their futhur studies,surely it must not be overlooked.
For 2 yrs,we trained 3times a wk,5times when competition draws near.the tournament came and gone.I got 3points in total.One each year for being a member of soccer and one for representing my school.
What the students want at the end of the day is a system that can give them due credit for the effort they have put in. -
Hai yah..what to do? The educational system here is not really a system that educates, rather, it is a system of elimination. I always tell people the rat race in Singapore does not start with your first full time job, it starts from the time you are in Primary one!

sometimes ... i really wonder what the education ministry wants ... all rounded students who work hard and play hard .. or machines who work hard and work harder to get nice little points
