Soldier Drowning Sentence - Like Feather

im a fren of the victim who drowned. I would just like to ask everyone not to gloat any further. While I hate my friend's murderers, I feel that these 4 who were made to carry the black pot have suffered enough. Do remember that where the SAF is concerned, there is always more than meets the eye. So on that note alone, I beseech everyone not to comment further on the 4 who have been sentenced.

BUT.... let's put ourselves in the shoes of those head-dunkers. i believe neither you nor i will really follow all those instructions to test the victim's life to the limit. that's because we are both human and sensitive to the suffering of others.
but i am less sensitive to the lives of those who are not sensitive to the lives of others
perhaps capital punishment may seem a wee bit too harsh. but for sure, they aren't getting away with something as light as their current sentence -

Look, a US soldier was just sent to jail for 10 years for abusing an Iraqi prisoner. He didn't even killed the person.
Doesn't the sentence of these 4, pale in comparison??? -

Gentlemen, as heng said, he was a friend of the victim, and he has accepted the punishment meted out to the perpetrators.
While I personally still think that those four should have been much more harshly punished, let us all take a leaf out of heng's example. They've already suffered, and if they have any conscience (which I sincerely hope is the case) they're all going to be haunted at the thought of having taken a good man's life for the rest of their lives. That's already punishing enough, and no further punishment would bring the victim back to life.
I just hope that his family can find peace after this. -

i agree that the sentence is rather light...let those people in the force know that they cannot do anything as wished. usually they behave like kings in their uniforms... i'm sure those who do ns know what i am talking abt....
pity the boys family... the most economical years of their life is being taken away... and these so called officers are still in the force....... demote them to private soldiers...... then they know... -
perhaps it has crossed nobody's mind that SAF has put up innocent people on charge as scapegoats?

It has crossed my mind. However, looking at the charges made and the sentences meted out, i can't say that i am dissatisfied; imo, they were just right for the situation. After all, they did kill the boy.
My grievance has always been that there has been no real accountability. -

Actually, no. Your reply suggests that the ones who actually dunked 2SG Hu's head underwater are not the ones that have been charged. Where can I read about the incident on this, I have been away and was not aware of this incident. Unfortunately, I think I know some of the perpetrators and may have served with them.

I think if the one who died was the son of an MP or some important people, things would have turned out very differently. But then, who would dare dunk his head in the water in the first place ?
I felt my life was cheap already when doing my guard duty with just a stick on Tekong during my BMT.
