Me too.... They always change policy and somehow, it's always affect me first..... Hated HDB. Till today, the branch office still behave like we own them a living. Call them on the phone, they never answer. Always ask you to leave message and they NEVER call back. Go to office to see them always not in and someone take over and talk to you with settleing the problem. Only when you start shouting and threatening to go HDB hub to seek for solution than they will start to entertain you ........... a little bit... meanwhile problem still not solve .....Originally posted by trueno86:I do! -

Ya indeed world class. HDB provide low cost housing. Check around the world which government in the world that provide low cost housing and make tons of money... no where.. ONLY in Singapore. They can now corportised and venture aboard. Isn't that a joke???
As a government body looking after us, they should not had profited. IF they tell the world that can managed to breakeven, it itself is a acheivement. But to make profit with great surplus, it squeezign us our hard earn money... Now they made it better, say can take bank loan then they allow bank to seize your flat if you can't pay. In the past, the cannot take back the flat because still they are gorvenment. Now it is different, they say private bank must make money and so they got the right..... -

Too bad, cannot afford. If got money, go oversea long time ago. Why stay here and be bothered by all the for the rich policy..... Since can't afford, have to let go a bit of stream meh... please don't take that away from us too ....

I remember clearly, when we supported PAP it promised to make public housing (HDB) affordable for all Singaporeans.
If this is true, then how on earth did HDB managed to suck S$14 billion out of so many financially struggling Singaporeans?
S$14,000,000,000 net profit !!!
HDB finally released the proft figures after resisting pressures to do so for many years.
And according to our country's constitution, this indecent sum of public money in HDB's account cannot be used or touched at all ! -
Cannot touch lor, so they first buid their HQ, at Bt Merah, now Toa Payoh lor.. Got so much money to spend or rather to waste lor... who to say they are wrong. Bt Merah building still not fully tenanted.... what a waste.... of resources .... But that did not stop them from hasrassing the poor who cannot pay.... They privatise PUB, now called SP. No money , no light. Now come with new system, cash card, pay what you can afford, sound good. Those who need electricity for life support but belong to the poor category can only use for life supporting machine, other than that, no tv,fridge etc. This is strongly endorsed by PM recent statement, Singapore cannot be a welfare state....

hdb is inflexible and they still have the iron rice bowl mentality...
the policies are so against locals... its a wonder that its at all a public service...
well we now know we are being ripped off just like Singtel and every singaporean monopoly is ripping us off... -

it is also amazing when they told us the hdb carpark is operating at a loss for years, so they need to upp the parking fee.
And the HDB flats are getting smaller because the avg number of ppl in a family is getting smaller. So if this avg goes up, they will build bigger flats?

It is also amazing that there were many HDB staffs who were retrenched with a good sum of retrenchment benefits, before they are hired again in the new HDB.

When the flat get smaller, the price still go higher. So if avg goes up, they ask you to take bigger flat. If you are just a little bit hardworking, you can check their financial report from the hdb website to verify facts. -

Friend, how many can afford condo. If can afford won't lack go steam here right.. Wondering if you in HDB or Condo... If you in HDB, you should understand our problem, if you are in Condo, it's good you learn a thing or two on how poor people live lor... I think the report you remember refers to a surplus rather than a profit. Somehow, the public twist it to read it as profit. You remember playing a game of passing messages by whispering to the person next to you? You see the effect here. -
What ever it is.... We are paying more for what they say public housing. In recent years, the price of private property drop so much. Now the price of a 5 rooms can cost as much as a resale condo, how to differentiate the diff between private or subsidised. HDB just refuse to lower the selling price of new flats. They know it will be taken up as with new town facilities will be there. They got way to make people buy house. Look at Buangkok, they don't have enough people and so don't open MRT there. Then when people compare facilities, a better choice is to take there right since MRT ready to be operational...
Anyway, they got their way... They do things that people cannot questioned them openly. They always have reason. They even make comparision with pte property when pricing HDB but when prices of pte property drop, their prices remains.... Still they got their reason... I am not into arguement with you. But inside us all here, there are something that we are not happy but yet cannot openly complain for some obvious reasons... so letting go a bit here and sharing with fellow sgForumist, help to reduce the otherwise mounting stress everyday... public services is no longer about providing low cost alternatives to private services
EG:
public health care cost just as much as private and can cost more
In singapore, what goes up and its govt linked, will just keep going up.
There is no natural law of demand and supply cause the whole country is a monopoly
and at best a cartel. -
