Should government stopped themselves from allowing cigarettes to enter Singapore rather then banning here and there and raising prices?gives your views

they dun ban because can collect tobacco tax.

If any government is serious about their populations health they would ban cigerattes and alcohol.
Having said that, tax revenues are a mighty big argument against banning - at least the SG g'ment makes them very expensive - not like in Thailand or Malaysia where the death rate attributed to cigs and alc are many times greater than here.

If ciggarettes were to be banned, the government must be able to recoup the taxes from another area.

Governance is not about removing the freedom of choice. Everything is about balance, compromise. Therefore, it goes against the fabric of society to ban.
It's all about balancing good and evil. Thankfully, there is more goodness than evil in this society.
