singapore's gamen seems to be focussing too much on foreign talents. they get the best pay, best benefits, better attention. is it a wise thing to invest in them like this? there's an ancient story that goes:
a shepard was herding his herd of sheep to graze when it suddenly rained. he herded them into a nearby shelter, and in it he kept a small reserve of hy, for emergencies like these. later, a herd of wild goats came into the shelter to seek refuge. the shepard seeing this golden opportunity to expand his herd, took the limit amount of hay (meant for the sheep) and gave it to the hungry goats.
after the rain stopped, the goats went their way. the shepard was furious and demanded a reason why the goats just went away after he fed them. the goat leader said, "you were very kind to us. but you were very unkind to your sheep. we don't want to be your sheep."
maybe singapore's selling itself too much. the PRCs are taking singapore for granted. what do you guys think?
when things are given away cheaply, those things would be treated cheaply
