  For passport issued on or after april 1 , the fee will be lowered from $70 to $60 ( "cheaper passports " ; ST , march 25 )
  
  However , the validity period of the passports will be halved from 10 years to 5 .
  
  This being so , how can it be cheaper ?Simple math shows that it will cost $120 to have the passport for 10 years .
  
  it is an increase of $50 , or 71 per cent , thanks to the new technology incorporated .

  The thought here is ST reporting it as " cheaper passport " which they r taking the people for a ride ... ST is a real pure bull lick Arse one-sided piece of recycle paper !

  If my passport has 90 blank pages left at expiry, can they simply renew and extend for another 5 years if the same technology is used ....with a rubber stamp for free?
