What has the Chinese/Koreans been teaching their students?

I am most surprised, Japan did invade Malaysia,Singapore and Pearl Harbor,
as well , but i can tell that there have been very little "noise and disruption"
compared to protests and demonstrations..
In Singapore,We are taught about what happened, in America, they also knew of the pearl harbor attacks, but why does it seems that whenever any matters arose with rgds to Japan's WWII history ..
The two countries will react the most violently towards it?? -

If it continues, it will hurt both of them economically and socially...

The difference is that we are not Japan's neighbours.
Ask yourself why we wrangle with Malaysia over something like water and a bridge.
Count urself "lucky"(?) we weren't a colony of imperialistic japan for 50 years. -

Chinese from a communist country, can protest against japan for changing history, against the taiwanese and hong kong bosses for exploiting their workers. Singaporeans were stepped all over by the malaysian, national flags burned by the indonesian and the philippino, go to court over a small island..... but singaporean will not or cannot even make a noise. Is that surprising that we do not understand why others react, even if it might hurt them economically? no, because singaporean will continue to buy cheap cheap things from Johore even if they step on our heads.
America reacted against the attack on Pearl Harbor by dropping two atomic bombs on Japan and its forces are still on Japanese soil, from where they continue to influence asia. do they need to react any further?

The problem here is not about whether have forgotten about history, but whether it's worth debasing ourselves and act like barbarians in front of global media.There are many ways to ensure such things do not happen again.We can educate their youth, we can do outreach proejcts.There are so many more effective and civilised alternatives than beating our chests in front of a camera.
What makes you think we have forgotten?Beware the silent parties.They can do more harm. -

You stated a fact as well, but the context is different. The Japanese were the aggressors in China, the Americans were defenders. We all knew what the Japanese did to the Americans, but what did the Chinese do to incur the wrath of the Japanese that they had to pay the debt with blood of more than 20 million people, more than 5 times the population of Singapore?
Yes, I remembered the Cultural Revolution and that it was brought up in other threads as well. It was avoided (not just by myself) because it was beside the point. The topic was on why the Chinese hated the Japanese, not on why the Chinese should direct their hatred towards their rulers instead. Not saying you are wrong that they should hate their own rulers instead of the Japanese, because nobody can possibly speak for 1.2 billion people -- but here's a possible reason for you to mull over:

Many of the people who perpetrated these crimes are still alive and well. Chinese demands are -not- unreasonable. Correcting your history books to teach -history- and apologising is definitely not unreasonable. -

Cultural Revolution is officially recognised as the national disaster by the communist people congress, Gang of Four were convicted and all died in prison. In many assessments of the chinese leaders by the chinese themselves, even Mao was criticized for his role in the Great Leap forward and the cultural revolution. The PRC people are doing better than ever before and at least they can demonstrate and shout for something they are angry at. Pity them on one hand but ridiculing them for their freedom to act on the other hand sounds rather hypocritical.

Many people here continue to view china with the cold war mentality and if they truely believe that "we" , I suppose it "Singaporean" can educate the japanese youth, I rest my case...... need not say anymore. -

A source with knowledge of the rioting who asked not to be identified said the two had died during arrest. He did not elaborate.

A China that is rational and values her own people is worthy of respect.I too wish that day will come, but now, they still have a very long way to go.Protesting against Japanese refusal to change their textbooks is one thing, realising that it will not have much impact on the Japanese youth is another thing altogether seeing as to how apathetic the latter are towards Japanese nationalism and politics.
