I seconded your opinion.Originally posted by Agressor:Just curious, what did the Chinese teach in their textbooks about the tibetan war and the Korean War ????
Didn't they invade Tibet? Didn't they take innocent lives in Tibet? Didn't they cause more lives lost in the Korean war?
I understand how the Chinese felt. They lost lives and pride in WWII, but they have not taken revenge because USA did it. This wrath and hatred is planted in the people and will take every opportunities to vent their anger. I really understand how you fell, but I would urge the Chinese not to overdo it. Have a little self control. The World is looking at this rising star. Stop embaressing the nation.
Pardon me, but what is that have to do with Japan changing their history text book? Do you mean that if China also doing the same to their history text book then it is ok for Japan to do the same?Originally posted by Agressor:Just curious, what did the Chinese teach in their textbooks about the tibetan war and the Korean War ????

Two wrongs do not make one right. Any wrong thing done by chinese communists to the tibetan does not justify the japanese committing atrocities against the chinese. In fact, it should be the other way round, the atrocities done by japanese against chinese between 1937 to 1945 do not justify the chinese doing similar things to the tibetan in the 50's.Originally posted by Agressor:Just curious, what did the Chinese teach in their textbooks about the tibetan war and the Korean War ????

I do agree that the Chineses have pride but not backbones. They are proud of being able to afford Japanese stuff and showing off them around.Originally posted by skyline63:You think they feel shame about their nation ? I tell you. It's a honor to burnt Japanese flag. Even China will not say "SORRY" to Japan ! Haa !!!!! RISING STAR ? What do you mean ? They can live on their own without don't any business outside. Can you do it ? HELLO ?
A nation is strong when there is pride and backbone.

If they really have pride and backbones, I shall challange all those in the Anti Japanese movements to not just boycott Japaneses brands, but also to surrender and destroy whatever Japanese products they are having and using. I doubt many will do that. To make it more challanging, those really against the Japanese should even quit their job if they are currently working in Japanese MNC.
I know you might be thinking what has surrendering Japanese stuff and quiting jobs from Japanese companies got to do with this issue? What can you get out of it? Precisely there is nothing to do with this issue and you can get nothing out of it. Similarly, boycotting Japanes stuff, create trouble in China and burning Japanese flag has got nothing to do with Japanese changing their textbooks and [b]you will get nothing out of it.

Yes I agree that Chinese want honour. But please don't turn honour to horror.Originally posted by highway69:Japanese want honour.Chinese all over the world also want honour.

Simple solution. No matter who does these things again, just do a double-tap on them.No point fanning the flames now. It's whether we have the guts to stop any monster at that very second that counts.Originally posted by snow leopard:[Japan did invade Malaysia,Singapore and Pearl Harbor,

What we read in our secondary school history books were mere skeletal descriptions of events without meat and details. I remember reading things like forced water treatment which may not be gruesome enough for some people. The really gruesome bits are not told by our history books, heart wrenching stuff that brings tears to anyone with the slightest compassion.
I remember graphic descriptions from witnesses, survivors or even japs themselves about how they went rampant in nanjing, broke into houses, gang raped the mother in front of the father, as well as the eldest sister, the second sister perhaps just 9 years old ... and after they've exhausted themselves they started mutilating their bodies ... use the bayonet to pierce the private parts ... slice off their mammaries ... throw the baby into the air and receive it with an upward thrust of their bayonet ... cut off heads, cut off testacles ... force father to rape daughter ...
i remember one particular story. a company of japs caught a chinese woman hiding with her baby and gang raped her. after that they decided they needed her continued services so they left her naked but forced her to march with them. after marching for days, the lady became visibly weaker especially when she had to carry and feed her baby. the japs decided they didn't need the baby around so they threw him off the cliff. right at that moment, the mother flung herself over the cliff as well.
and what about those comfort women? can you imagine a whole army of soliders venting out on a handful of these pitiful women?
what about the biological experiments on life chinese humans? head chopping competitions?
there is little noise here because we weren't told the real stuff.
the americans lost a few ships and a few lives but not too many lives compared with those they lost in europe and non of their women got violated ...
i suggest you read up all the postings related to this issue. there are around 8 threads in apr alone. it is the same thing all over again.Originally posted by snow leopard:[what is the point of giving gory details? to encourage hatred?]
the gory details are familiar to those who bear hatred. the fact that i provide them here does not increase them one bit.
but the apathy of some individuals towards the grave wrong doings on our fellow kind need rectification. it is to let these people understand why the issue means so much to the chinese and the koreans and why they cannot forget.
i was taught all that in secondary school. It is not so much about the history books, but rather, whether you teacher bothers to teach you all that or not. But even so, we were taught in a very factual manner, and not in a biased form as in hate the japanese.Originally posted by snow leopard:[Japan did invade Malaysia,Singapore and Pearl Harbor,

That is why the chinese are protesting.Originally posted by CenturionMBT:cos simply it is so darn distant and remote from us. Right now they are denying the rape of nanking. And thats china's buisness.
The jap textbooks deny the killings in SEA, including the 50,000 in Singapore. They have also justified their invasion of Singapore stating that it was necessary to liberate the locals from the brits colonial power. don't think we can expect some "complaining"? Singaporeans apparently don't care about history or what their grandfathers did. Our education problem? And unless they start denying the obvious about SEA, you won't see many people complaining.
