There already is a whole battery of psychological tests for potential PSC scholars.. but the validity of such tests in predicting a person's character is highly debatable.Originally posted by iveco:Scholarship interviews should be more stringent. There must be a psychology test for those who have done the interview. Only those who passed this test will be considered for the PSC scholarship. PSC? ahahahah. I have a thing against PSC scholars.Originally posted by cornyfish2000:There already is a whole battery of psychological tests for potential PSC scholars.. but the validity of such tests in predicting a person's character is highly debatable.
Actually not all scholarship recipients are rich.. some are, but there are also others who won't be able to afford a tertiery education, much less one overseas without the scholarship.Originally posted by Meilin86:Well this is another sad news. There is a similar thread with our people complaint.

Aiyah...these scholarship give to these Intelligent ppl ,they are rich too. Sometime they really dont need the $$$$$. Why give them? Give to the poor and needy who want 2 study, but those cannot afford!!!! Really Unfair!
Well i think it is pretty sad that the government is sending all its top scholars overseas rather than to our local universities. It's a silent admission on the govt's part that the Singapore universities are still not good enough for these top scholars.Originally posted by darknessfall:I really dun understand the mentaility of sporean..they always think pp graduated from overseas(drink ang mo water) is smarter than those in locals. No offence to anyone here..
kinda agree... but not easy to get the job...Originally posted by timothytsgsg:Leave Singapore. There are foreign companies who will appreciate people like you.
Yes, it will be hard to nail the job u want outside of S'pore, but believe me, there are CEOs who like graduates who like to learn, have drive and have intelligent curiousity.
You don't need straight A grades- but what u need is intelligence, determination, resilience and some leadership. They appreciate an all-rounded person.
You are still alive? Haven't you been banned?Originally posted by JusticeLegal:The worst are those teacher scholars...teachers are bad enough for their lack of delication to the education of our youth...but these teaching scholars have such an easy ticket to success in the ministry. Should scrap these rubbish from the civil service altogether
well, not all scholars become generals... in fact many dun.... on the other hand farmers also can become general.... it is all about right time, place...Originally posted by darknessfall:When you are in NSF, also the same..scholars one side, non-scholars another batch...they become generals if they sign on, while local grad just have to suck thumb, become LTC and retire at 42...
i disagree that local uni are good enough for them. I would rather think that they are sent overseas all over the globe to tap into global education... how to communicate with foreigners & understanding their cultures.Originally posted by cornyfish2000:Well i think it is pretty sad that the government is sending all its top scholars overseas rather than to our local universities. well, that is probably the first cut.... ever heard of strike one & u r out? using the funnel theory.... the pool of "scholars" will be filtered down to one that always meet expectations. But that might also bring the question if the supreme scholar could take a defeat when the time comes.... or maybe he/she becomes conservative the higher he/she climbs or becomes complacent???Originally posted by pearlie27:It's real sad that the type of meritocracy that is so entrenched here is based mainly on academic grades and not on one's capabilities.

Psychology test for the interviewer as well.Originally posted by iveco:Scholarship interviews should be more stringent. There must be a psychology test for those who have done the interview. U always need money if ur finding a job overseas and also u need to show the right type of attitude. In S'pore, go-thru-the-motions attitude can help u retain ur job, but outside, u need to display the drive and desire if u wanna continue to keep ur job and get promoted.Originally posted by BrUtUs:kinda agree... but not easy to get the job...
They are the PAP babies, so I don't think the PAP will expose them to defeat yet. But I'd bet if they face defeat, they won't know how to face it and take it on the chin.Originally posted by hmsg:well, that is probably the first cut.... ever heard of strike one & u r out? using the funnel theory.... the pool of "scholars" will be filtered down to one that always meet expectations. I for one would just pick the person with the right altitude...
