Yar right, paid well then the ministers wont corrupt, what kind of stupid logic is that?By having such a high salary, those ministers are actually "corrupt openly",even Malaysia also look down on our ministers,F**k those blood sucking ministers!!!Originally posted by Medicated Oil:SMRT and SBS transit MUST increase their profit every year so that they can pay the board directors (MPs) handsomely so as to prevent Corruption.
So, as MM Lee have stated, if the Singapore Citizens want a Corruption-free singapore, the MINISTERS MUST BE PAID WELL.
The Malaysia have a dig at the Singapore ministers as they have said that the Malaysia ministers dun need to be paid well as they are governed by integrity.
Please understand the New Fare Calculation Formula was IMPLEMENTED after the Economy "RECOVERED".
So, the SBS and SMRT have the RIGHT to increase their fares according to the Fare Calculation Formula.
When it is PRINTED on the FRONT PAGE of the ST, it is CONFIRMED that the increase is ON !!!!
the question and english is so simple and i wonder why you need to dodge the issue.Originally posted by kingofbeholder:my english so simple also cannot understand meh?
if you think SMRT really earn that much, you can buy their share to earn divide CD every year.
Agree.Originally posted by lotus999:Hey smart alec
not many ppl can afford to buy shares and these are the ones most affected by any fare hike.
Not to mention that there are always malfunction readers that seems to always over deduct the fare. Wonder how much extra money was deducted everyday from malfunctioning readers...Originally posted by silv3rgal:& da circle line... what a waste of civilian's money building that redundent thingy.. SG's so small... e.g it's like only 5 to 10 mins bus ride from Kallang stadium to Kallang MRT and they're gonna build a station at the stadium... no logic at all...
And its freakin unfair if they are increasin our transport fares coz of that....

who can go againt the rise ? if push to govt, they surely CB say govt will not and cannot affect the management of the SMRT.
if blame the SMRT blah blah blah...their spokeman will tell you:"wei, singapore having +8% last year. my pay also need increase mah. 10-20cent per travel si simi money? we singaporean already so rich to donate so much this year NKF, so i take it this year singaporean have too much money and have no place to spend. we(SMRT) helping you dude."
everything go back to basic... you can choose, want ,or not to donate using the phone (with paying to telecom).Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Not too sure where does the 8% growth go into... to the rich or the poor...
I never donate to NKF this year. At least NKF donation is by choice. Something Interesting to note that when donating to NKF by phone, you need to pay the telecos. Compare to in US, you vote for the American Idols toll-free... Guess who the owns the local telcos? .... hmmmm
Since I am at NKF, why can't they just give a bank number for people to internet bank-in?
Agree. Thats why I choose not to donate to the telcos.Originally posted by kingofbeholder:everything go back to basic... you can choose, want ,or not to donate using the phone (with paying to telecom).

I strongly feel that we should not donate to NKF at all, since they are steadily building up a huge reserve, and continuously start programs that raise funds at the expense of other less cash-rich charities, and suck up the finite donation dollar.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Not too sure where does the 8% growth go into... to the rich or the poor...

a lot of people in this forum seems to think lowly of NKF. where does NKF's 67 million per year come from if they are as bad as you think? why dont KDF and other charities do something if they are struggling with funds?Originally posted by pkchukiss:I strongly feel that we should not donate to NKF at all, since they are steadily building up a huge reserve, and continuously start programs that raise funds at the expense of other less cash-rich charities, and suck up the finite donation dollar.
The result? Kidney patients who seem to always need donations, while orphans, the elderly, handicapped, people inflicted with other disease do not see any funds.
In that case, I would rather NKF be disbanded, and allow KDF to take over its role. That way, the needs of the unfortunate may be better balanced.
Imagine NKF opening branches out everywhere, with brand new buildings made of clean facade, while other charities struggle to even pay for basic cleaning costs.

from the new formula, it is one which will reflect or pact to the economic.
So Singapore, get ready for another public transport fare hike.

A company must always keep increasing their profits so as to increase their share valueOriginally posted by dragg:dont see why the need to increase when they are already making so much.
you forgot to add that share price will also go upOriginally posted by bismarck:well in sg, if anything's justified no one would making noise abt it at this forum.
aiyah the usual story.....raise fairs then next financial year make record profits
SMRT is a Private company......the moment it listed on the stock exchange, it has to start thinking in the interest of its shareholders....Originally posted by sgdiehard:It is not your english, it is you mindset.
SMRT is part of infrastructure and it is there (or should be there) to serve the people, the ordinary citizens, not the shareholders!!
