How about this? We could nationalise the transportation companies and make them a state owned so profit cannot be a operation consideration. It should then be pretty much a non profit oriented company.

agreed! They take our hard-earned money, pass to various business interest goups.... for "pocket-in" & "pocket-out" which they so-called operating-cost , business-venture , investment etc, etc ($$$ flowing from one to another).
