This is the PAP government. They love you. So you must vote them ! Why ? They ask you to pay so that your salary can go up by 1% every year and their ? Of course 20% or more lah !

During erection time, the gahmen keeps telling s'poreans that voting is compulsory, and those who don't are guilty of an offence and blah blah blah. They are putting the fear in citizens, which is why voters turnout in Sg is very high if not the highest in the world for a "democratic" country. I have voted twice in my life. The first time i cast a spoilt vote. The second time i voted for oppo. I know of many who are not happy with the PAP and i tell them if you are not happy with PAP and don't want to vote for oppo, then cast a spoilt vote or don't vote at all. There is nothing the gahmen can do to you if you don't turn up! But these sillyzens will always be so scared that things will happen to them and in the end vote for PAP hoping that others will vote for oppo. This kind of sillyzens really makes me "proud" to be a s'porean. -
Even bush do the same. So what the differents ? Only fools will vote PAP. Because they fear. But there is always smart one who vote PAP. Why ? They got money to take mah ! Government workers leh. Working for NTUC, HDB, ARMY. Don't vote PAP. Later cut pay how ?

I have voted twice in my life. The first time i cast a spoilt vote. The second time i voted for oppo. I remember from voting at the last GE, you show them your IC, they find your name from a nominal roll, then make a mark or something. Then give you your your ballot paper that has a serial number. Siingapore very smart one. Get A few hundred from NSS and increase GST in the end. Also don't mind ! This is Singaporean ! Must praise them one ! Praise them till they forget even their daily life is suffering also never mind ! As long got people praise. No food to eat also never mind ! -
Personally I feel it's more greed than fear that drives many Singaporeans to vote for the PAP - upgrading HDB estates, for instance. PAP focuses on "happy" issues and it's just amazing after so many years that Singaporeans still fall for it - hook, line and sinker. HDB estates will be upgraded eventually, MRT stations/lines construction plans decided way in advance to coincide with projected election dates, little handouts here and there, etc.Originally posted by skyline63:Only fools will vote PAP. Then the elections are over. Barely before the dust settles, everyone gets whacked with taxes and life in Singapore carries on as it is - with no improvement except perhaps nice juicy pay packets for those who have lost touch at ground level and don't realise that even $10 could make a difference to many Singaporeans.
Has there been marked improvement to life in Singapore since the ministers' salaries were increased?
Singaporeans really have no one to blame but themselves. If you feel something has to be changed to bring on a better Singapore for everyone, why worry about a bunch of serial numbers recorded next to your name? I used to be one of those who'd vote PAP unless I was given the choice of another decent candidate. Now, I am sad to say, I no longer hold that view. Opposition is necessary, even for tiny Singapore. But for opposition candidates to increase in numbers and improve in quality, there needs to be encouragement from the people. -

Many silly civil servants have conjured this absurd scenarios in case they vote for the opposition -
......MPs and ministers and voting officials will, after the election, open the SEALED vault in which were kept the SEALED ballot boxes...
they will then sit around a table and look at hundreds of thousands of ballot papers to see if any civil servant didnt vote for them.....
and presumably it would need at least 100 workers to help go through the slips....
Dont you think its plain stupid to think PAP would go to that extent to catch non-PAP voters? They dont and they wont! There are too many witnesses!

Sometime it due to fear...i know of people...talking to them...they dun support PAP but in the end vote for them..ask them why ? They are scare of any further trouble..so vote for pap is the safest...
