  Different countries have different cultures and social systems. The methods that those countries use to tackle corruption may not necessarily be applicable to Singapore, anyway.

  A country does not consist of ministers alone. By your reckoning, we must raise salaries for policemen, teachers, doctors, postman and the car park attendant or they will start taking bribes too.

  The PAP has always claimed they have people of integrity, so corruption should not be a big problem.
  
  For the few that transgressed or are tempted to transgressed, have severe penalties. China has death sentences for high corruption. We have to do better. How about torture before execution...hanged, drawn and quartered...japanese water chamber....burning at the stake...castration before public hanging...I can think of many ideas. Bet you ministers will be content with their salaries..

  Yes, I admit my first answer blows. I even cringed when I typed it. But in case you haven't caught the irony in my earlier posts, I was just putting myself in the policy-makers' shoes in a pathetic, feeble, lame attempt to justify why the paychecks of public servants should go up even higher so that Singapore can be No. 1 -- doesn't that ring any bell? -- in the world's anti-corruption list. Everybody could just jump on the bandwagon and hurl their shi t at the policy-makers, but what fun would that be?
