World class transport on a second class road system with third class drivers.
On top of that we are slaves to fare increases. Why can't they implement per distance fare system like starhub per minute, per minute parking system.
It is clear that they are profit driven. They made us upgrade to stupid EZ link cards, so they spent many millions on a new system, why can't they charge based on distance?????? -

PLEASE!! If our transport if world-class...
I would not have had to wait 30 mins for Bus 14 on a saturday at 5 pm, not to mention other services.
I would not have had to fight tooth and nail just to get out of the train every evening.
I would not have had to put up with noisy and overly-loud, not to mention irritating TV Mobile.
I would not have had to suffer frequent over-charging on my EZ-Link card.
You forgot to mention also that if as those taxi drivers claim there are too many cabs on the roads, why is it so difficult to get a cab in the evening or morning??? -
They use tax payers' money to build the infrastructure for the transport companies to make profit to become first class transport.
They use tax payers' money to build hospitals and make it privatise so you pay higher medical fees to become first class hospitals.
Now SIA had finally realise that what consumers want is not world class after the overwhelming response of the budget airlines.
Wonder when can the rest of the sectors wake up.

If you have to wait an hour, then you came late to the bus-stop and don't have enough common sense to go do something else and come back to the bus-stop before the next scheduled stop. -

(1) No free lunches as stated by ministers like Mah, Yeo, etc despite the fact that the ministers, MPs and Civil Servants are enjoying the free lunches in the form of golden handshake amounting to some S$1,000,000,000.00 (posted in another thread) paid by Singaporeans for their retirements after two terms.
(2) Non-welfarism (Meaning: All departments and ministries operate as cost centres whereby all costs incurred in provisions of essential services etc will be recovered fully by HDB etc and taxes already paid for such services are subtly transferred as budget surpluses.
(3) Lands acquired using citizens' monies under Land Acquisition Act were charged again up to market values by HDB, JTC, LTA, Transport companies (Previously taken over by government as public companies), various corporatization and privatisation schemes to farm out less profitable activities, Singapore Power, Government Hospitals, etc in the cost/fee computation..
So far, PM LHL has not signalled that he will look into modifications or review of these 3 high-cost practices started by LKY and carried on blindly by GCT.
If the above-mentioned 3 policies or practices cannot be discussed in parliaments or in public to get Singaporeans' opinions or views and suitably modified or reviewed, the citizens will forever be fighting a progressively losing battle against justifications by Case, News media and ministers' judgmental decisions of all kinds in the coming years.
You don't have to believe me but just look at the above-stated cost-centre computation formula for government fees and charges used by ministers Mah and Yeo in arriving at all the fees and charges again. -

Our Ministers travel on Public Transport leh.
They use PUBLIC's money for their own TRANSPORTATION. -

World class transport don't mean you go out to the street. Want to go to work. Sure they must drive you there on-time on your calculation. Like that you better hire your own driver leh. Or maybe you open your own company that you can choose the time you go to work right ?

You know why crowded? Go to the bus and MRT depots and you can see that many buses and trains are still sleeping there and not doing revenue service. Why? When I was on holiday in Sydney, the buses came on the dot even though the drivers manually collect the fare from boarding passengers. And you don't have drivers who purposely drive at 30 km per hr just because they are ahead of schedule!
And 30 mins is a super long time in tiny S'pore where cars are super expensive and our pay is artificially repressed. -

TV Mobile belongs to mediacorp but who allowed it to be installed on the bus in the first place???
And I really can't imagine anyone stupider (except maybe those who blindly support SBS or work there) to let a 3rd party (Mediacorp) use of his/her business space (read: sealing up of seat below the TV) and NOT charge for it. -
Transport System in Singapore needs much improvements:
Buses
>> shuttle bus services are seldome on time; they often come two at once and one of them (the one behind) will be crawling
>> bus drivers still stomp on their brakes making old folks onboard lose balance
Taxis
>> most Taxis on our roads are largely hellish drivers; they cut in and out of lanes mindless of others
>> towards peak hours before peak hour charges they'd disappear only to re-appear on the dot when there is a surcharge.
>> in Tuas area, they can't be hailed off the road, they'd hide somewhere to be called by phone.
>> they travel at very high speeds with passengers onboard
>> They choose passengers based on passenger's destinations.
MRT
>> the air-conditioning is insifficient
>> hardly enough time for passengers to alight at stations making people rush
>> stations are still popular places where people die
Where are the merits for a fare increase? Hardware upgrades? They can have the world best equipment but if all the above doesn't change, it's equates to nought! -

And what do I do? Go Speaker's Corner to rant when Speaker's Corner is located in some remote corner where even the office crowd at Raffles Place don't even bother to walk there?
Protest when the Police disallowed even the display of dolls at Raffles Place MRT to protest against child slavery in the name of "law and order"?

Now ERP charges are set to increase along with public transport fares. It is like being slapped on both cheeks.
