exactly but from the media reports after Mr Wee's death they seem to imply tat he's the best president which is implying that Mr Ong is second best.Originally posted by laurence82:how to compare?
they are good in their own ways
to say one better is putting the other down...
i think the idea of a really good president lies in the heart of singaporeans, rather than some goverment propagandist newspapers....Originally posted by crazy monkey:exactly but from the media reports after Mr Wee's death they seem to imply tat he's the best president which is implying that Mr Ong is second best.
... and you see the way the public speak when interviewed, they are just parroting the "oficcial" lineOriginally posted by laurence82:i think the idea of a really good president lies in the heart of singaporeans, rather than some goverment propagandist newspapers....
being politically correct, some more when considering when its WKW death now....Originally posted by crazy monkey:... and you see the way the public speak when interviewed, they are just parroting the "oficcial" line![]()
how would you know that Mr Ong is not a nice person as well ? sometimes the influence of the mass media is very subtle .....Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Wee Kim Wee is a really nice guy and easy to love. He projects a father figure. However, he is far too much of a nice guy to stand up to the government and wear his other hat of defending the national reserves. Ong Teng Cheong came up from the PAP but he has the guts to stand up to the government. He certainly took his job very seriously, which irritated the PAP...they wanted yes men for presidents. I choose Ong Teng Cheong as the better president although I really prefer Wee Kim Wee as a person.

While for Wee KIm Wee.. he belong to e "guai guai" type.. which PAP wan.. Sorry if my pt of view offend anybody..Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Wee Kim Wee is a really nice guy and easy to love. He projects a father figure. Hell, you are indeed correct. I am sure OTC did what he was empowered under the Constitution, but the MIW had too many skeletons in the closet to display.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Wee Kim Wee is a really nice guy and easy to love. Both have tried their best to serve the common people.Originally posted by laurence82:instead of discussing how Wee Kim Wee is subserviet to the PAP, why not abt how he tried his best to serve the people well?
If both were to be alive, can they both be president at the same time?Originally posted by iveco:Both have tried their best to serve the common people.
I agree with your view on OTC.Originally posted by Elfred:If both were to be alive, can they both be president at the same time?
This question of whether who is the better one to be president would mean that Mr Ong turns out the only person.
When the powers are offered to the president, Mr Wee declined to continue a next term that he could do what Mr Ong Teng Cheong did when he was President but he didn't.
Good person and good president are two different things.
If you guys do think Mr Ong tried, though in not a very welcomed manner, then Mr Ong is the only choice of answer. Mr Ong is clearly a loss to Singapore, even if his own comrades really deserted him or whatever.
My humble view.
Good to know we do share agreement on certain thingy.Originally posted by robertteh:I agree with your view on OTC.![]()

I agree with what u said and we can see clearly PAP doesn't really like Ong Teng Cheong..When he passed away, his funeral is not as grand as Wee Kim Wee one..But no matter what, this two ex president had done a good job for singaporeans and they will be stay in our hearts for a very long time..Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Wee Kim Wee is a really nice guy and easy to love. Speaking of which, the 2005 Presidential Elections should be coming up soon. As potential voters (provided there is no walkover again), maybe we should focus on whether President Nathan has done a good job filling the big shoes of his predecessors.
