There was mention of Trade Development Board chairman (Malay, can't remember his name) previously.
Also, Yong Pung How was another one mentioned previously. -

Abdullah is currently the Speaker of Parliament. This puts him in good stead as the presidential candidate. Tony Tan's banking background makes him a good candidate to take charge of our foreign reserves. LKY likes him too...but that is precisely my only apprehension...can he be independent?

I think we need some foreign talent in order to bring about some synergy into government. These guys bring with them a new perspective and they are usually cheap too.
So i suggest we have a huge recruting drive in India, China and Eastern Europe. Knowledge of the english language is not really essential (in fact, it is to be discouraged!). All the candidate needs is to have a perfectly functioning* right hand.
Let's start recruiting now!
*enough to wave, shake hands and sign papers. Unfortunately, i think candidates with no functioning right hands cannot be considered because it would be quite awkward aesthetically speaking. We can't have bush looking like (even more) an idiot when he sticks out his right hand to shake our president's left! -
