your friend's cousin? whoops... the only cousins who know about this are from that side of the family... don scare me...!!!Originally posted by waattaa!:Sorry yet again for not reading properly, its really hard to comment actually if we do not know the situation. But ive heard many incidents like that, in fact u may be my friends cousin! (anti that rude uncle of cos). Many people do not think b4 they react, it gets really pissing at times when the worst of all that person shares the same blood as u. my blog use to be what i call "my ranting ground", personal thoughts -which included vulger words too- the bitching online helps ppl lose the steam which is good, better than picking up a fight.
there is no such thing as freedom of speech. its all bout sueing here and there.
er... don geddit... haha... n i'm nt exactly scared lar... jst freaked tt ur friend may be my cousin... lolx...Originally posted by waattaa!:haha in that case u got to reason to be scared about, thats because she is in ur situation? =)
lolx... he happens to be a millionaire...Originally posted by waattaa!:under what context did he say he was going to sue u about? U didnt state any names although u did state the relationship. It could always be "fiction", thus if he was going to sue u just because u used "my Uncle" in ur "story".. i feel he has no stand. But then again, lawyers are smart enuff to come out with something more concrete. But i honestly doubt he would sue? unless he is so bloody rich and doesnt care bout losing $$ just to win a case which i regard as bloody childish for a grown up to even consider.
not surprised that he did. maybe he just wanted to show all ur extended family members that u were a bitch for ranting online about them with all the colourful language? =)Originally posted by cimorene:lolx... i deleted everything... i think he saved a copy tho...
BLOG FactsThat's exactly what he wrote...
Information compiled from an article in The Sunday Times May 15, 2005 (Pg.42),
BLOG NO EVIL - Libel laws and angry readers make bloggers regret their online rants.
Myth 1 - Blogs are the cyber equivalent of my hardcover diary.
Fact - "Blogs cannot be considered personal space because everyone can see it. And because of that, the law of defamation still applies," said Mr. Bryan Tan, a lawyer at Tan and Tan Partnership, who specializes in IT law.
Myth 2 - My blog is password protected, so it is personal.
Fact -?"You're not off the hook even if you protect your blog with a password and give access only to certain people. As past experience with e-mail has shown, it can be copied and forwarded to the whole world in a matter of minutes".
Myth 3 - What I write in my blog is my personal opinion. I write to de-stress and express my personal views on the Internet where free speech is being practiced.
Fact - "The law allows you to have a opinion about something," said Ms Doris Chia, a partner at Harry Elias Partnership. "The comment is fair if the facts that support the comment are true and that it was made without malice".
Said lawyer Tan: "Do be sensitive about what you write. Even if it is not defamatory, would the person being targeted benefit from your views? Criticism is not wrong if it is constructive. I would advise bloggers to think about what they are putting out there and rectify it before it hurts anyone".
Myth 4 - My blog is on a website hosted overseas, so I cannot be sued here.
Fact - "Even if defamatory comments are posted on a website hosted overseas, the content publisher can be sued in a country where the website has been accessed".
Myth 5 - I am a minor, so I cannot be charged.
Fact - "A person does not have to be of a minimum age to be charged".
