just want to check with fellow forumers here..
how much is your utility bill per month?
has it ever comes down after going up?
for myself, i notice that whether i switch on the air-con (for one room only) for 8 hours per day every day of the month, or no air-con throughout the month, there is not much difference in the two bills.
** for comparison's sake, i have made sure that my usage for other applicances are constant, for example, i only iron an hour per week, computer 8 hours per day, fridge 24/7, tv only for prime time show, lights off by midnight etc etc. -

Got, got go down, cut down on air con usage, go down, in fact go down alot.
Residential telephone line also. Same goes for water. -
my bills average $230-$270.
aircon for 2 room on average 10H a day.
no cooking at home.
other usage are quite low.
too high? no way i can check. just pay if i want to live in my HDB flats -
Once my bill shoots up to $200 per month. I complain and highlighted to them that I am monitoring the meter as well. Immediately the bill went down to $135, max $150 until now.Originally posted by reyes:my bills average $230-$270.

their math average always take high side to sum estimate
look out for during estimate month use less -

Yes, Utility bills usually graduates upwards due to increases in tarifs. But it also goes up with use of high consumption appliances like the Aircon, TV, & Water Heater (or anything that cools or heats).
But do NOTE;
>> appliances that are not turned ON but power switch is on and unit is on Standby, also consumes electricity
>> Old refrigerators, and airconditioners usually consumes more as they age, or becomes faulty
No matter how you scrimp on power usage, somehow, they'd still manage to jack up your monthly bills.
I give up. I just use normally now. No point.
Unless I consider buying a deisal powered generator and make my own power, or revert back to the days of charcoal and kerosene lamps.
Like the malay family whose flat got burnt down because their utility was cut off 3 years ago, and they were using charcoal stoves and candles to live by.
I shake my head; for we are considered developed, our system has NO mercy on those who have little or no means to live a decent life.
