All of us don't go Orchard Rd. since ERP will be increased.
They should build more aircon underground pedestrian crossing like Citilink esp for Takashimaya/ Paragon junction & Centrepoint area.
This will reduce the no. of traffic lights so traffic will be smoother.
Also frequency of MRT/ buses should be increased so pple don't have to drive. -
if possible, do walk instead of taking the bus if the distance is not long, example 1, 2 bus stops away. can save our very very hard earned money at the same time exercise.

I don't think a 10cents increase in cash fares is justified. Because charging $5 for a bloody card in which they had a failed investment isn't.

Actually I do that. I walk two busstops everyday. Good exercise, plus the scenery's good and nature is beautiful. me too. i walk everyday to the MRT station to go to work. it's 2 bus stops away.
actually sometimes it's faster to walk instead of taking the bus. cos most of the time, the bus take super long to come. u might already reach your destinaction by the time the bus comes.

Yup I have the same feeling too! When I walk, at least I'm in control of my speed. I can control time better. Even if you get the bus, you can't make the bus driver go faster than his snail's pace. And many ppl thinks wages no up so why raise fares...
I must say, wages is just 1 portion to operating cost. ERP, petrol, insurance cost are also other portions. -

I beg to differ...the whole idea of the transport system going public is basically wrong. If there is no competition among the transport operators...due to "no duplication of resources policy", then why has 2 operators when one will do?
When's the last time you choose between buses when the only logical thing to do is to take the one that comes first?
Just have a single non-profit transport company (privately or government controlled). Hence fares will increase to meet the rising operating cost, (oil, bus drivers' wages etc). In that way, who'll complain? -
Just wondering..... notice the same subject topics have been discussed in many other online forums, but the print media is quite quiet on the subject, especially on the bus fare hike.
Was it a case of what other countries have been saying about Singapore "Freedom of Speech" or "Press Freedom" were true?

Let me tell u 1 thing. Don't talk so much. I have keep on think & think, whether I'm rich or poor should I still live here?
I got alot of friends in overseas, my friends had ask me to move don't stand. They are from different country moving to another country. I met them when I travel for work. If they can make a living. Why can't I???
First ask why they left, it's a stuipd question. Of causes In seach of a better home! This does not come easy, they had a hard time for their future better home. But now they make it.
I'm still thinking......should I, is this place a home for my future generation??? I guess a lot of our young generation have came in mind of this question.

Do buses in London have to pay tolls when entering the city centre? Anyone knows?
Recently, I read an article about the possibility of tolls being implemented on busy motorways near urban centres in UK (Birmingham and Manchester areas). One person was quoted as saying that taxes on car usage are fair, but not taxes on ownership. He rounded off by saying the objective of tolls should be to ease congestion, NOT collect revenue.
I think excise payments on cars should be reduced, as this can be quite ex, and the extension of ERP to more areas will only worsen the situation. -
