Is it about time we use less plastic bags?

We use up to 40 billion plastic bags each year. There's a lot judging by our small population. Do you think it is about time we do our part to save the environment and cut down on the use of plastic bags?

gone were the days when pple cladded in their lacy nite dress and bringing their tumbler to the market to buy breakfast or even supper
will the stall holders say 10 cents less if u bring your own container? -
Save the environment? WHAT, environment?
In the first place, where does all our waste go to? -
think most ppl in sg oredy take it for granted

it's seems like the cashiers like to give out plastic bags. sometimes, i just buy singular small item and they will just put the item into the plastic bag. had to tell them i dun need, they wldnt ask one

Maybe cashers shud ask cos if just a small item, bags are not needed and fast-food restaurants should be like BK

Not to say too much of science here but the technology is gg for biodegrable plastics, hopefully to save the world -
Was just talking about it, apparently in Taiwan, the practice is not to give out plastic bags. You have to either pay for it or bring your own.

This must have arisen from the article from that free-sheet called Today.
Legitimate concern but how about also telling Today to print less copies of its freesheet to save paper, instead of claiming a readership base of 500,000 when you know each auntie or uncle at the MRT station usually grabs one stack of it to use for wrapping fish, meat and what not at the market. -
Why judge and change a small country over the use of plastic bags?
After plastic bags, what's next? Plastic chopsticks, spoons and plates?
Sssh.
Aren't there more important things to judge and change in our small country than anything plastic?

it is a concern as plastic is nonbiodegradable. the noxious chemicals from plastics can also lead to pollution when burnt.
