Only when Singapore's TNP turns into the equivalent of Daily Mirror will we ever discover what goes on @ NKF. It will be more interesting to read than some stuff about Bitchy people's blogs.Originally posted by timothytsgsg:Well, now u know why I refuse to see any NKF shows. They are nothing but a bunch of stupid liars.
That means, NKF "expended" $0.48 cts per $1, ie $174 million!!!!Originally posted by idwar:According to National Council of Social Service (NCSS), the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) has $189 million in the bank
Out of every dollar the NKF raised in 2002, $0.52 went to beneficiaries, and the rest to expenses.
$2340 per month per employee, you are definitely wrong, dragg.Originally posted by dragg:note these points in the article:
but this really beats me!!
In 2002, it employed 947 staff; total employee cost was $26,597,000.
it works out to an average of $2340 per month per employee.
or am i wrong?
Isn't that against the Singapore's fundraising guideline?Originally posted by idwar:According to National Council of Social Service (NCSS), the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) has $189 million in the bank

Wow- Super fund raising methods......
It's a numbers game.Originally posted by mistyblue:i don't know why people still donate to this NKF.
that is what they want. To go back to the public and ask for more funds.Originally posted by macjoe:NKF is guilty of blowing away $174 million on expenses when it
could have been expended on organ purchase and replacement for
most (if not all) of the current kidney dialysis patients.
With a new kidney, there's no need for expensive recurring dialysis
patient costs.
What a rip-off!!!![]()
Actually, if we want to contribute to help sick ppl, we should just channel our donations to the hospital's charities, which aim to help the needy patients as well as support the medical research in new treatments and cures for the sick. The hospital's charities also put in some of their funds into training new doctors (Note: In sg, we are very short of doctors and nurses!!!). One of the hospital to support will be NUH. Their charity also has Cancer Fund as well as funds for other illnesses. The other one will be Tan Tock Seng, which channel most of their funds into helping Needy Patients pay for their medical bills.Originally posted by mistyblue:that is what they want. Imagine if tomorrow there's a drug that can help kidney patients and even improve their kidneys. Would NKF support that drug?
to create a nation of sick people, gives pharmacies and organizations like this a reason to make more money from the people.
Yeah that's what I feel loh... I think when its handled by the hospital, its more effective.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Actually, if we want to contribute to help sick ppl, we should just channel our donations to the hospital's charities, which aim to help the needy patients as well as support the medical research in new treatments and cures for the sick. Does NKF Cancer Fund go to researching for new cancer cures? I doubt so.
So low meh? Should be much higher than that.Originally posted by Young@heart:$2340 per month per employee, you are definitely wrong, dragg.
With so many charities in Singapore, we need to be more selective in contributing. It's best that we read about what each charity is doing and whether they are worth helping or not.Originally posted by mistyblue:Yeah that's what I feel loh... Research is really needed to find better meds for ills.
I feel we had a good discussion. Actually people, you know you want to donate, if you walk to an AXS stattion, you can use that "communittee" tab to donate to the charity of choice. I've not explored all the items in there... Paiseh ..
SPCA is another organisation who i see that all they really did is to put many animals to sleep.Originally posted by Honeybunz:With so many charities in Singapore, we need to be more selective in contributing. Eg. between the zoo and SPCA, I will choose to help SPCA. The zoo is too business like nowadays, so I guess they have too much money (maybe like NKF..hehe). SPCA still functions like the way it was when it first started. Their objective and mission have never changed.
There are too many of them mah. Every day there are just so many abandoned cats and dogs. SPCA also has limited space and money to support all these, thanks to the irresponsible owners.Originally posted by 798:SPCA is another organisation who i see that all they really did is to put many animals to sleep.![]()
