Once upon a time
mi back for holiday recently... and my sis pass mi a donation card.... then i see.. knn NKF one....so i told her i wont donation... then she told mi about a story..... that card belong to her son.. and last yr... she say the same thing as mi.. so her son lan lan no choice listen to his mother and return a empty card to the teacher as he is only pri 1 so dunno what is going on what.... then his teacher suan him in front of the whole class as he is the only guai kia that got $0 donation.....so he end up crying when he reach home lor....so this yr my sis no choice lan lan have to donation a few dollar and write different ppl name lor......then make mi so guilty never donation..... but.. knn i wont donate to NKF....
Moral of the story.... i rather donation to LAF's Livestrong thing better...

i donate S$6 monthly and dats all i give...in return i go for the health checks, the S$72/yr i just take it dat i am paying for the health checks....
reason why i am not donating is becos they spend too much on themselves then on patients...they have nice buildings etc...look at KDF...their operation cost are very low, run down buildings, no saltwater aquariums and no un-needed stuff....most of the $ went to the patients....
want to know how much $ went to patients is not hard, just see how much 'un-needed' things u see in NKF buildings.... -
I believe that, in order to solve the growing problem of kidney, liver or any another problem involving body organs malfunctioning, that we cannot just throw money in donation schemes and expect it 'to work it out by themselves'.
As I said, in order to reduce the growing numbers of kidney patients, then we must get to the bottom of it- which is the diet. This isn't rocket science. There have been examples of kidney patients who got it simply because they ate and drank too much rubbish since young.
A diet that is high in saturated fat, oil, sugar and salt and low in fiber, minerals, protein, monounsaturated fats and vitamins will cause problems in anybody in the long term. The problem is that more Singaporeans are slowly slipping down that route of unhealthy diets as we become more and more financially independent.
We do not want to go down the route of obese Americans. Neither should we escalate the problems of the kidney malfunctioning in Singapore- so if we want to reduce the number of kidney cases and also reduce the re-curring of kidney problems in those who have had it before, then we really have to address the main issue here- diet.
To do that we need not just govt. policies to encourage a pro-healthy lifestyle at work and at home, we also need the people to see our point of view. Besides who would want to spend the majority of their time sick when they can be enjoying time in work and with their families? -
There was a recent scandalous story about charities and the use of
celebrities to raise funds exposed by a bankrupt raising-funds agent
in the US.
The story revealed that certain celebrities demanded huge fees (not free)
to perform at the raising fund charity show.
Those celebrities on NKF shows - are they doing it for free or they're highly paid in raising funds?
Would that explain the huge $0.48 per $1 spent on "expenses" by NKF?

They remove such conditions from the card liao. And I believe its the school that impose such condition. We were all so pissed off that we just gave this 'minimum amount' and washed our hands off the matter.
It sucks that I'm thinking badly of a charitable organization which has indeed done some good - but the way I see it, NKF has a lot to answer for.

The school has no legal authority in financial matters.Educate your fellow parents.No school has the right to commit her students to donate money to an external organisation.

I will not donate any more to NKF... They are liar...no doubt we still pity those patient.

NKF requires patients to make co-payment fro their treatment. If you guys have forgotten, go back to the "gold taps' article tthat triggered the lawsuit. Anyway, why did they wait more than a year to sue SPH?

Er, I not sure why NKF still need to give out prize to people who donate like win condo win this win that kind of thing...
I know its to attract people but but but, they already got so much money in the bank to help sick people. Every year just make a 1hr or so show to reach out to the ultra rich people to donate lah!
Why need to entice people with prizes. I think they surely targeting housewife those kind. In the end who suffer? I think is the husbands that suffer because the income mainly from husband who bring back the money mah. Then the hard earn money go to NKF..
I think its pretty fucked up lah this NKF....want more and more and more $$ -
