I absolutely agree that this man is *&^%$# selfish.Originally posted by ndsef:I read with much dissappointment on the forum article in ST 11 July about a child who was turned away from childcare centre because of an ulcer in her mouth. The father wrote in to complain that it is a "waste of time" for him to bring her daughter to a doctor to verify that it is not HFMD!
I have a daughter as well in child care, she contracted the HFMD recently from her classmate. If only her child care centre is more vigilant like the NTUC one.
This is a classic example of ugly Singaporean, only thinking about himself and bloody selfish. Do you know the amount of time that will be wasted if your kid contracts HFMD? It is a terrible disease that can cause death. It is also proven that adults can get it too, if we are not careful. Wouldn't being isolated at home a bigger waste of time?![]()

Firstly, if his child's ulcer was due to HFMD, he will be spreading to the rest of the children in the center.
If the ulcer is not due to HFMD, it is still better to keep the child at home, because
when a child develops ulcer, his immunity system is low, thus is easier to catch any virus present in the center.
I would say, the precausion done by the school and the teachers are excellent. Hope all childcares will not be affected by this "disgracful" act of an individual.
when you have ulcer and go around kissing someone or have fluid contact at 'sensitive places' then its gonna be very serious.Originally posted by shinta:i had no idea!
