About the cancer show, I heard that they raised S$3.24 million and 181,568 calls during the show. I did the sums and on average, each person donated S$17.84? Is it possible that the people donated so much? (Comparing to the NKF 2002 where it raised S$4214435 with 842887 calls = S$5 ave.)
It is good though, that people are donating to charities (who need it) again after the NKF saga. -
Probably a few big donors representing organisations skewed the average.
Cancer is one of the top killers in Spore. And cancer treatment is not cheap. Those who are rich and can afford new cancer drugs can mean life or death to the patient. Too bad, Spore govt don't subsidise top of the line cancer drugs. So this is where the cancer charity comes in. -
it came out in the papers today that nkf, bedok cant have cancer centre because of no nkf funds.

ST reported today in the newspaper that the staff of NKF should be prepared for a backlash as the audit results are coming out soon.
Doesn't sound too good.

At least the investigation is going on and not going OUT.
Hope they will show the public the true and all the details of the investigation.

the straits times have been told that the audit by KPMG is not very favourable and quite negative.
they expect a strong public reaction. -

Problems will always be problems. Wrongs will always be wrongs and cannot be covered up or closeted as skeleton in the proverbial cupboard. They will not be solved by themselves and will breed bigger problems. They may be more NKF like universities ordering chairs worth $2,200 and work sites with short-piling and highway with under-estimated subsidence due to liberalities in overseeing of contractors. Look at one work site accident after another they all share one common characteristic - lack of process management to ensure consistent follow-through implementations of safety measures reported in previous inquiries like the Hotel New World collapse. In companies they will lead to malpractices and losses. In government problems not solved will create discontents and dissatisfactions which will surface into NFK denials which one day will have to explode into public outcry and even overthrow of system.
Our government has claimed excellence and world-class standards. Let them prove to citizens with real actions to solve simple problems before making any further claims of such excellence. -

These so called foreign celebrities who claimed that they are here to perform for charity, you think so? They are paid OK! You think they so free, can fly here to do charity for S'pore? Ask Cao Qi Tai how much was he paid? For all you know, our very own celebs were probably paid too. Or perhaps there are more than what meet the eyes. Why did the hearing ends after 2 days? One young minister when questioned by the press for the outcome of the CAD investigations on NKF, replied that he would rather wait for a thorough investigations than to rush them on the results. B S, they are afraid it may affect the elections results. Let's see when will the results be published. -
